Bit of a change to the usual what car, a little more niche.

Father-in-law is getting on a bit (79) but loves his Suzuki King Quad for the farm, wife and Mother-in-law think he should be getting something more sensible that doesn't require him to get his leg over! hehe

We were thinking a UTV would be the answer, but which one.

Polaris Ranger and Kawaski Mule keep coming up, it there anything else we need to look at? Budget is 6k ish + VAT which we can reclaim.

Not really what he's looking for, but great shout though.

It's more of a ATV with more comfort & weather protection, along with some carrying ability (sheep feed and haylage etc)

John Deere gator? Though if he loves his quad and can get on it then perhaps let him get on with it - once you stop using mobility you lose it etc.

Also I once suggested to get my Dad he swap his MX5 for something he can get into more easily. I got what I believe is called "an old fashioned look", and he still has his car.

John deere gator is the Rolls Royce hence all the poor dairy famers round here have them, people also seem to rate The Kubota ones which if they are as well made as there tractors they will be superb ...

The Gator I use from time to time was bought as an exdemo (I think) and was still 14 grand. It also has a universal steerwheel for GPS guidance and Greenstar on the roof.

I used a Mule years ago on an outdoor pig unit that wasn't really up do that level of abuse.

These mostly seem to use motorcycle spec parts.

I’ve got a brand new 2017 Kawasaki Mule SX

It’s the smallest one on the market (i need narrow for my woodland pathways)

I did do a lot of research and considered the Ranger, John Deere and others

ended up with the mule as a brand spanking new one, with 2 years warranty etc cost me the same as a battered old high mile deere or ranger would.

I Paid £5775 +VAT for mine

Its got high and low box, diff lock, and will go anywhere really.

Due to the size of it the payload and towing capacity takes a bit of a hit but still does everything i need it to.

Cheers, mine is fully road legal, with full road lighting and plates, but no MOT or Tax!

Its got a hefty winch on the front, and I will be getting a roof and screens fitted very soon so its fully rainproof, to keep me dry when working in the woods or nipping about.

Looks great, do you mind me asking where you got it from?
