not much to go to after the jag which can offer both looks, luxury and performance. lumina doesn't cut it on the first two and something like an m5 is a totally different animal.

tx would offer a multitude of opportunities for obnoxious daily drivers though!

to save repeating myself, the mystery surrounding mine and jase's recent purchase is revealed here:

Don't suppose anyone knows firsthand the history/condition of that 8 series?

Only thing I noted is that it's on an 'O' plate, and from the registration sticker it seems likely that the seller has only owned it since November.... that would make me suspicious to say the least!

Please excuse my ignorance but what does the 'O' represent? I Googled the 11 representing that it needs to be re registered in November but the letter itself is drawing a blank.

I've only been in the UAE for a couple of weeks now so not up to speed on the technicalities and looking at cars is a minefield!

O represents the year I believe. Not sure when their year starts and ends though.

Actually not sure the above is true. last year when i got the silverado, I got given plate with M, what happened to N?

O is the most recent reg. But I am not sure if it is annual. My jeep was registered in jan. 2012 and that's on a G.

I thought they just moved on to the next letter once the numbers for the previous letter had all been used.

The RTA generally moves onto the next letter when they run out, or get bored.

However, if someone de-registers their car or gives up their numberplate then that goes back into the system and is issued to the next registration.

I think what the OP's point was that if the car is on O plates, it means it's only been registered for the first time in the last 6 months or so, so any claims of "I've been running this car in Dubai for the last 3 years" should be taken with a pinch of salt.

aye but the ad does not state anything like that or whether the car has been registered whilst the work has been done.

love the exige and the mog, the rally fighter not so much. that one and a red one both live in my basement. some neat fabrication but hideous to look at.

Would make a cracking track day toy.. Ever thought of that?

Oh.. hehe

Do like that Z4.. Nearly nought one in a moment of sensibleness in the UK when I got fed up of running two cars.

On the topic of car reg numbers, it seems they've moved on from O already and skipped P & Q and gone straight to R as was shown on the matt yellow Raptor I saw tonight on Umm Sequim Street which was wearing the numberplate R9999.
