Here or back in the shire? Congratulations!

I am in the market for an lr3. Can't think of any alternatives at that price point.

Neither, Lake Como, wanted some semblance of a holiday when spending that much wedge so ruled out here or there!

Anyone actually in the market for a new motor These days?
I am beginning to look. The Caddy will need quite a lot of suspension work, roof liner to be replaced and some other bits and bobs.

Just trying to weight up whether to pay that, and buy something else too (an old SL most likely) or just buy something late model new.

Problem is that the used cars prices in the UK when I was there spoiled me so I am finding it hard to come to terms/actually paying, a lot of money. Add in that the parking in my new workplace is so tight that the risk of dings and scratches is high.

I'm getting geared up for the arrival of this beastie:

But it won't be here in this neck of the woods (officially) for another year.

Love mine. For the money its been a great buy. I've had zero bit issues with it in almost a year and driven 10k (touch wood) with zero costs (other than 800 dhs for a oil/filter service). Only annoying thing is the dash has cracked (very common) and I've got a couple of tyres with flat spots which I'm swapping out soon!

Ok it's not fast, but still has a sense of style and luxury about it. I've no plans to swap it for anything newer either.

that's good to hear. i have been reading up on them and the horror stories seem overplayed.

this is the one i am interested in. if the belts and bushes have been attended to recently [which is should at that miles with FSH] then its all gravy. its for daily duties [i miss having road presence in traffic] towing and a lot of camping. intend to do a lot more of that this winter.

ps - new raptor looks good. i hope ford progress the bronco concept with that engine as that would be very hard to ignore

Great choice, getting married on Lake Como (I did the same 3 years ago), mind you I was born there.

Back to cars, only one Mustang GT350 here and the price is astronomical.

50K USD car in the US. What a bargain.

How about something completely different....
I realise that this wont be everyones (or,more likely ANYONES) cup o'tea, but....

http://tnydu.biz/DOtZwE

A Mercedes 1000.
Never made by Merc themselves, but generally the name given by whoever modified the car. No idea who in this instance, but guessing NOT Gemballa as it doesnt look quite garish enough.
Anyway. A cool old Merc. Rare. Modified for what would have been a wealthy owner way back when.
In summary- I would bloody love it.

Edited because the sodding dubizzle link didnt work.

Back in Blighty, I'd have scoffed at this comment, but in my modest time here, I can't agree more.

I bought Mrs TF a Focus ST recently (which she now hates...) and whilst I think it's a great wee thing to punt around, it is all but invisible to our fellow road users. This is especially noticeable in the metropolitan utopia* that is Mussafah (AD), to the point where I'm convinced it's only a matter of time before I get flattened.

The Raptor on the other hand... Nothing clears the outside lane like it!

It's a shame that big is still best out here, but I guess we have to accept it.

You have mail, BTW.

saw this at the weekend, was trying to work out who made it. might be one of the original ones given the locale [legend is a middle eastern businessman wanted a car twice as good as a 500sel]. deffo not a gembella as iirc they called theirs 1001 to go one better.

/plutocrat car beard

like the concept, don't like the car. if it as one of the gullwing sec's with the overhead radio that would be a different story entirely.

cool, will check in a bit.

and yes, by road presence i mean a massive lump of thundering steel, not something that just looks shady in your rear view mirror. a rental yaris doesn't even make a pathan labourer on a bicycle get out of my way, let alone cut it down SZR

I love the look of it, and the 10 speed box, but I just can't get as excited by a V6 ecoboost as I can my V8!

I will still test drive one as soon as I can though. I am wondering if the change to a V6 will impact the second hand V8's - either positively or negatively?

I've notices prices have dropped in Qatar by 20k although the Oil and Gas guys leaving town has caused a glut of decent cars on the market suppressing prices.
There is a new Raptor in the wild in Dubai. I saw it on some local Instagram page.

I'm a bit anxious too. The V8 defines the car. Can't see it positively affecting values, though. They're too ubiquitous, IMO.

I cannot take the credit for these, just nicked them from another group I'm involved with.

I may pop into Al Tayer and see if/when they will get one in. It does look smart - but than engine on paper just does nothing for me. I would assume the one in the wild is an import through Ras al Khour?

With regards to resale values, only reason I am asking is that there are not many about for sale.

I have had mine nearly 2 years now, and was pleasantly surprised when I looked at Dubizzle prices recently, and even more surprised when I saw one a guy at work had just bought and what he paid for it (and his had a lot more km's than mine).

There must be 2 in Dubai, the one I saw was white! God knows how they've got hold of them, production isn't meant to have started until August according to the Raptor Forums.
