I was mulling that one over for much of the weekend.

The Mrs would shake her head at me going from one Mustang to another but, well, it isn't just another Mustang is it? If it were black or silver I'd have viewed it. Not a fan of red on these as they look a little jelly mould like.

Get it bought Shirt.

(p.s. can I borrow it when you've bought it?

My mate is mulling over that Defender as well, small world.

He took his ancient Disco to be serviced and the mechanic wrote it off, hit the accelerator not the brake and stacked it into a skip.... Oooops

Yes, yes it does!

Also says 'modern handling provide great driving in town and on the highway'

Would still roll round town in it though!

i was looking at that too, until i spotted the fwd reference.

the defender is epic but i would need something very fast to be towed by it's trailer hitch. also diesel is a rip off wink

i would donate body parts for this, but i would also be prepared to bet it's another that is still in the US

the gt500 isn't really me tbh, but even less so in red.

have you been sniffing glue?

don't know what it is, but the 197 seems far too tall for my liking. the 182 on dubizzle/petrolheads for 24k seemed a good buy mind.

i've had loads of belgian food and 6 pints of leffe. this is the mood i should go car shopping in. at the moment, i'm having grand theft auto style getthefkouttamyway musings on that tomb raider landy

The Tomb Raiders are very cool. They are something of a collectors item (even back in the UK) and you don't see many Defenders here. But, as you said earlier, it's a TD5 not a petrol V8.

Unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool Land Rover enthusiast and specifically want the limited edition model, I'd be more tempted to get a V8 Defender and pimp it up to your liking. There's an unbelievable amount of after-market parts and accessories available so you could make your own Tomb Raider-style Defender from scratch.

You could have a competition with Hitch78 and his Wrangler!!

PS. This was my old 50th Anniversary V8 Defender. Would have been perfect for Dubai. frown

Lovely landy there geoff, but I'm nothing if not uber picky. Must be a double cab, avec v8.

On another note, is this road legal?

If so then this definitely warrants further investigation.

eta: looks like a dealer non? and that looks like a silver nsx behind.

dusty - send me the map link NOW!

Lovely looking thing. Might need some spends to give it some go to match the show though! I think that this dealer is in Ajman as I spot a white 370z in the background that is deffo on with a place in Ajman.

NSX it is not - looks like a Corvette. There is a black NSX for sale at the mo but alas it is auto. Who would do such a thing?!

Aye, its in ajman. Looks like I'm working til 7 tho. I asked if road legal as it looks tidy but could be a contender for a crate v8 biggrin

The black nsx is at al awir. Few scrapes and scabs with a worn interior. Deffo not worth the money they want for it, auto is just the coup de grace.

That is exactly what I thought - that engine bay is screaming out for something more potent to be wedged in to it!

On a serious note though, beyond the arches, the wheels and the potential transplant...is that not a touch steep for a Datsun?

i think that depends what's been done to it. if body and interior are decent and the brakes, suspension and transmission have been properly upgraded then it could be a good buy. plus we all know sticker price isn't buy price. reckon it could make a good cruiser/track toy.

as i say, needs closer inspection. i didn't make it past the bar again this evening....

went up to ajman car souk this afternoon to see the datsun. wouldn't you just know it, the dealer was shut frown

from 20ft it looked very nice and the dealer stock is comforting - all z cars and gtrs. will try an get up again this week but i'm away for a couple of weeks from thursday then.

driving around they did seem better for having more individual cars. saw a few fintail mercs, an mgb roadster, a pair of mg midgets, a 60s mustang, a couple of series 1 landy's, and a 70s bmw 3.0cs.

on the other hand, most of these were tatty. the stang was a mess and whilst the bmw looked in average nick, opening the doors revealed all i needed to know [i.e. they didn't close properly!].

met up with del at al awir afterwards but didn't see a single thing in my price range that i liked the look of frown prices of the older stuff were also ridiculous - 120k for a late 60's stang that was worth less than half that, and 170k for a bike engined tiger / lotus 7 thingy.

Loved this comment...

What future plans do you have for it?

"The centre console comes with four aux switches ready to be used as you see fit, so I am contemplating a light bar, but one that sits on the roof, is flat and 360-degrees rotatable. With those lights up there, if someone flies up behind me and starts flashing when there is obviously nowhere to go, I can give them a few thousand candles' worth of their own medicine."

Yep, I eventually found my way there to take a look at what was around..... not much in my price range either though there was some lovely metal to drool over.... Eleanor Mustang for 750k AED!

The only thing I was remotely interested in was a freshly imported black 'Vette convertable, but a carfax check reveals 26 records against the VIN and it's overpriced anyway.....

Back to Dubizzle I think.
