What a beast.

I can only assume you found that by searching through the 'manuals'?

Apart from the car is in Bahrain
Bahrain is actually a great place to buy a car. They are generally lower mileage and people seem to look after them if they have bought them new. Warranties are GCC wide and the import duty is 5pc if the car is over 2 year old . Only issue is on BMW and Mercs where service packs and warranties are issued by local dealers. Audi packs are GCC wide..

Ok, I need some inspiration... Thinking of swapping out the 997 for something a little more practical that can seat four people with at least some level of comfort. Must be fun to drive, 6 or more cylinders, over 300bhp and not be a total disaster on a trackday.

So, asides from an E92 M3, what else is there that fits the bill? Considering a M135i but can't find a good one (Seen the blue one on Dubizzle and it's a mess. The Red one is sold). Test drove a Golf R but really didn't gel with it.

Searching on Dubizzle hasn't really helped. Help me before I do something daft like buy this: http://tnydu.biz/DOra2c

Max budget around 200k

Volvo have just got the Polestar S60/V60's in, tad over budget but at least would be brand new and a bit different.

350hp, AWD, huge brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension, fruity switchable exhaust, very comfortable and fully specified.

Unfortunately not tried one on track yet but do go well.

RS4
New or old shape 5.0 Mustang
Maserati Ghibli (maybe too much)
1M Coupe

If it was my money, I'd go for a 1M. Not huge but will hold it's value.

surely an m3 in no real improvement over a 997 for rear seat passengers and the evora is a step back.

depends how often you really need to drive around 4-up. maybe an m6 or a c63amg? you're always going to be compromised on track though, the better option is a dailydrive / weekend 2 car combo.

But for the budget, my mate's Ghibli ticks all the boxes: sedan, all the toys and options and goes like stink

I know that he is negotiable on price but is looking at closer to 300K though

If you don't mind buying used, then a Cadillac CTS-V with the supercharged V8.

Four doors, 5 seats, huge boot, all the toys and 556hp.

Absolutely rocketship fast very comfortable ride and OMG the acceleration (still grinning now)

I had a look at one yesterday with a view to buying but having slept on it, I am more of a barge person so most likely will end up with a used 7 series (albeit with a whopping great engine in it of course)

They'll be very close to the top of my list when I finally decide to ditch the Mustang, I think the coupe is a great looking motor.

I'll endeavour to find a Prelude this weekend and try that out!

Fantastic engine, rather have it under the bonnet of a ZL1 though and put up with the Pony car jokes. CTS is a very unusual looking thing.

The coupe is an odd looking car alright but the sedan (what I was looking at) is very well proportioned and quite an aggressive looking car.

The asking price was 130K for a 2011 model. Am due to look at another one this weekend.

For the money, it is just silly performance. If someone started to laugh or tell a joke, I think by they reached the second syllable, I would be 100m away and accelerating hard.

Tuning potential is also surprising, although much more power and the lack of grip does become a joke.

But valid point the ZL1's and CTSV's for that kind of price do offer serious performance, throw in magnetic adaptive dampers and decent brembo brakes they actually aren't bad at going around corners either.

Upgrade the intercooler, change the pulley on the supercharger and throw in water injection as a back up and you have a ridiculous amount of performance for very little cash.
