You are not a QS / commercial manager by any chance?

I would offer up either a Jag XF-R or a C63 AMG, but you are single (or sounds like it) so the requirement for 4 seats is not a MUST HAVE.

How about a Corvette? I agree with Shirt, at your age Pork is a must have at some stage, really depends on what you are looking for.

I am a QS indeed. "Senior Cost Manager" nowadays. I once met you lot at that old bar by the Ibn Batuta Mall when I was living in Dubai in 2008. XF-R's are a bit "old man" for me, especially as my dad has one at 65. RE: Houses, I am saving for that too, but like you lot I can't see myself ever living in the UK again.

I'm not single, but we're years off kids yet so no major worries.

RE:Corvettes...it'd be a Z06 or nothing for me...they are also on my radar but I forgot to include them in my original list. I can't really think of a downside to owning one apart from it being previously owned by a local who treated it horribly which would lead to future reliability issues.

Honestly think the order of preference for me is

Raptor @ 260k
Z06 @ 210k
997 @ 250k
GTR @ 260k

Not the Jebal Ali Club, surely? The one that looks like a typical Northeast Working Mans Club?

Corvette for me, despite wanting Pork.

sounds great, when are we going?

young lad at work bought a corvette from a local. the guy was a director at the RTA and had kept it immaculate. i've been for a few spins in it now and whilst the noise and shove are great i just can't see myself owning one. interior also doesn't befit the car.

i am thinking of chopping the jeep in this winter for something with more cylinders. with my ditherings i should start looking now!

Cheap booze and decent food - its not a bad place to be honest (bit rough on inside) and probs across the road from where you work.

The one and only! biggrin

We sat by a pool on plastic chairs and there was a gravel car park outside. I think most of you lot had Evo's then if memory serves.

I wanted a Z06 (ron fellows) then too but thankfully I didn't buy as the brown stuff hit the rotating thing shortly after my arrival.

I know what you mean about the interior. The ones I have seen for sale all look tired and the leather is cracked even after 2 years.

i'll have to check it out. a few of us northerners use the JBR hilton sports bar as our dingy pub of choice but this sounds better!

Stage 1 achieved, Senior Management (the mrs) approval to proceed. Saw a Raptor and a Corvette in the Car Park last night and the feedback was that the raptor is "big" and the corvette is "not as manly as the truck"... Roll on ramadan bank deals! biggrin

Ooooo lovely.

Right then, let's begin.
Whilst I like the Raptors, I'm not really an off-road man, so can't love them. The Vette is ovely...a mate had one and I loved it. BUT, I dunno what it is...the body kinda looks like it's come out of a jelly mould. I know, I know, I'm being really picky. Can I interest you in an SRT8? wink Actually, how about a cheap Wrangler or such for the desert and something sporty and German?

Shirt will be along in a minute to offer his thoughts on a 1839 POS that no-one under 85 would even look twice at!

wink

there's a 997 gt3 on dubizzle for your budget toby, and iirc S1MMA his selling his for a similar price. gt3 manual goodness with one former PH keeper has to be tempting over the raptor?

hehe
I was just looking through the Pork section...trying to work out how to get 2 sets of clubs in there....Then I saw a rather fetching Cayenne....Then I slapped myself and closed Dubizzle down.

I'd love a GT3 over any of the below! I love porsches in general but I'm still waiting until ramadan before I pull the trigger on a loan...by which time I guess both will be sold. Plus I don't know if the bank would give me a loan for a car not in the country and I wouldn't want one that's been to the moon and back or had been thrashed to within an inch of its life (which I'm guessing any one I can afford would of been).

RE: Raptor, it's a bit different in Qatar to Dubai, we go to the desert alot and I would go even more with a Raptor! There are also alot of desert roads that you can play on as well as dunes so I could play at being in my own dakar rally (I'm such a child I know!)

RE: Vette, it'd be the Z06 or nothing as the extra width really makes it look so much nicer to me.

S1MMA is a dubai based PHer, maybe worth dropping him a PM and see if it's sold. car looked fantastic [there's pics somewhere on here] and iirc was being sold as it's not being driven enough.

Its very much a case of head ruling over my heart, my gut reaction was to jump at the chance but I doubt I could get a fair price on fully comp insurance as it is 5 years old and I'd need to check warrenties could be extended in qatar, I'd need to look at import fees and it all seems a bit expensive given 260k is my limit budget wise. Even changing the ceramics would be crippling financially.

I was under the impression that you could not import a car into either KSA or Qatar if it was 5 years or older?

you've got to love it when an F150 Raptor is the sensible option!

looks like you're in a bind re: local availability and import restrictions. would a 2 car solution appeal - cayman s/r and a desert toy?

The mrs will have my 2.8t saab as a runabout so thats the sensible car covered. Jus spoke to my mate an he says 5 years old makes it a no go unless you have connections...which he does but I don't know if he could help me...all in all it sounds like the perfect prospect IF it were in Qatar. BOOO!!!

Z06 is a close second provided the right one comes up at the right time.
