Ps there's a manual r8 on dubizzle for 180k. If you pretend it's still 5.7 dhs to the pound that's a decent buy
The problem is, I had a 730 BHP V10 RS6 in the UK, so an 'underpowered' R8 might not cut the mustard I also know what the ruinous costs of that type of Audi can be....Rich_AR said:
Saw this yesterday - the guy seems to have 8 of them!Mansells Tash said:

Was the RS6 expensive and unreliable to run? They've caught my eye recently. But consumables....
Had new pads when I bought it; it's a heavy, fast car. 10k miles and I needed pads and discs... 600 quid each side at the front, fitted myself.
Then the distance sensor went, for the active cruise. 400 quid.
Then Tyres at over 200 each. I could have sworn they had almost new tread on them when I bought it...
But that is all gravy, when you consider that, at the time it was 1.20-1.40 a litre in the UK for fuel. And I could get 6MPG on a good blast to the petrol station. With much less fuel cost in the UAE you'd think it would even out a bit, but I would bet that the parts/servicing costs are much higher than in the UK.
If you are going to get one, make sure it has the decent 730BHP/1000NM Tq tune or fly someone in to do it for you, because when you are spending that much on consumables, you may as well have fun with it.
I Got rid because the wife thought it was too refined for Devon. So I bought her a 200Tdi Defender

Thanks, I'm actually eyeing one up for a potential move to NZ, (funnily enough a Defender is also on the list of potential buys).I Got rid because the wife thought it was too refined for Devon. So I bought her a 200Tdi Defender

After parking the idea for a while, I have come back to a giant SUV due to the style of driving here particularly due to a moron last week on SMBZ road.
The leading contender is a Sequoia but turns out they are no longer being sold here from 2017 so will be late model used/demo.
Saw an interesting one advertised here (http://tnydu.biz/DOuIrG) with front bullbars and tow-bar.
Will be interesting see if the tailgaters want to flash this or try and braketest it (give it would destroy the back of their car witl minimal if any damage to the beast!)

looks like its been ramraided through halfords with that spec list but easily resolved. give it a proper test drive. i know from experience that lifted cars handle like a wet turd if not 110% maintained.
i am with you on the SUV but having done the brash loud and lifted thing i'm going luxo this time. drove the supercharged full fat rangerover and now having major difficulty in seeing past them as a daily proposition. just seems my budget needs to increase a little to secure a good one.

I agree re the Halfords and would not buy that one but probably shove the bullbar on the front and towbar on the back of whatever I get.i am with you on the SUV but having done the brash loud and lifted thing i'm going luxo this time. drove the supercharged full fat rangerover and now having major difficulty in seeing past them as a daily proposition. just seems my budget needs to increase a little to secure a good one.
I was wandering around Elite Cars and nearly fell over at how much RRs are! Even used. Once of them tore out of the exit loop as you go into Arabian Ranches last week and it was like something on warp drive. Had to be modified as it accelerated like a rocket - sounded nuts (and the back was squatting down!)
New model ones are pricey yes but a combination of the export ban on cars older than 5yrs and the 8 yr limit on fully comp insurance means the l322 is somewhat cheaper. My budget was 40k for an lr3 and if I go for the Range I reckon I need 60 for an 09/10 model year in decent condition. At that I can get either a late 4.2 supercharged or 5.0 n/a. Only a 20bhp drop on the latter but with more toys and less drivetrain stress.
Problem is whilst lr3s seems to be the well heeled expat mums school run car of choice the range is the middle eastern mondeo, so plenty of lemons around.

That is interesting on the power difference between the two. I did not know about the export ban on cars older than 5 years. Seems to create a squeeze then with the no comp insurance after 8 (will be interesting to see what happens with my Caddy this year)Problem is whilst lr3s seems to be the well heeled expat mums school run car of choice the range is the middle eastern mondeo, so plenty of lemons around.
Anyone interested in a cheap trackday/race car? I'm moving to New Zealand and want to offload it. I was after 70k AED for it but time is of the essence now so I'm (not so) happy to take 40k for it including spares and 2 full sets of spare Toyo R888's and a set of R888R's. Export will be down to you but I'll do whatever paperwork is needed to get it on export plates.
PM me for a specification sheet but basically its an EP3 with a k20a engine in, manual and right hand drive and all the bells and whistles like ohlins coilovers with remote reservoirs and AP racing 330mm floating discs.
