stillgrinning said: Definately not responsible enough for a race license......... ] I know that, but having seen the standards of driving around here and the b\number of black flags on a kart race a while ago, I figured I'd throw my hat in and give it a go.. Wondered when you would pop up on this thread. Hope all is well in the big city and everyone installed now. Let me know if you have a weekend of freedom for a cold beverage or two in the near future..

Always assumed Nissan Altimas came with one, they all seem to drive like Jason Plato.

Was stuck in a meeting all afternoon so my mind wandered, but not far enough to do that..

i believe its 2400 for the licence which is the easy part. but do you intend to compete? would a trackday car for the season be better? evolve [www.evolve.ae, run by yorky and oily] run some competitive events as well which look like excellent value.
i'm just about to chuck a bunch of cash at the clubby and do as many trackday/evolve events as poss this season. i believe there are enough parts [inc chassis and body panels] at the autodrome to build a clubman.

Wheel to wheel is cripplingly expensive unless you have generous corporate sponsors. If you start working out what it costs, you will stop competing.
Autocross and sprints (like the timed challenge at Yas) are excellent value and a good route into club motorsport - also I am fairly certain you don't need to take an ARDS equivalent test, and you can use a road car. Karting is still the best bang for buck and pure racing. Unlike Touring Cars and the GTs where usually the guy with the deepest pockets wins (though the thrill is also commensurately bigger, and every now and then you get to rub shoulders with a top pro).
The FG1000 series looked fabulous. Wish I was 20 years younger with indulgent millionaire parents.

Like Harris says you dont need the licence for the timed events at Yas. The only thing I had to do was upgrade my fire extinguisher to meet their requirements.
Let me know when your doing an event and I'll pop along with you. If nothing else to take pics for Phil and Andy LOL

I'm off out to Dubai in December. If Simon starts his lap now I should be there before he completes it.
