hows everyone getting on? how are you finding it ian?

just spent a bit on chain reaction cycles' sale. i say a bit, its prob half what i spent on the bike!

i'll be clipless next time i ride though, so its all good. opted for speedplay zero stainless pedals and cleats and a pair of 2013 diadora speed racer CR shoes. full carbon sole and decent ventilation, and 70percent off rrp. bought blind sizewise though, so they best fit!

looking forward to racking up some kms soon. havent been able to exercise here for a few reasons and lack of fresh food has meant a really poor diet. bizarre what you miss but for me its the weekly footy game and a saladicious tuna tataki!
No new bike yet then ?

Well I managed to do the loop last Friday with Scott, Jason and Chris. I followed this by doing 16km at Nadal Sheba on Saturday morning. Lets to say the @rse was a touch sore and the legs a touch stiff. Gel shorts, pedals and shoes will be bought when I am in the UK next week

got my shoes and pedals.

sizing is spot on, although they feel slightly wide as i am used to narrow adidas classic type trainers

deffo recommended for the money. i have the white ones, very flight, comfy and well ventilated. even the sole has mesh panels for ventilation.

dropped a bk on the pedals as i didn't realise the speed play zero's come with cleats, so i have 2 sets. ah well.

first ride will be thursday evening if tomorrow's football session doesn't kill me. planning on a couple of loops of the palm so potential for falling over.

It was fecking hot at DA tonight. Not helping that I have not been on the bike for circa 8 months!

I thought the Autodrome was a bit better - a mere 34 degrees last night! Didn't see Jason or Chris - what's happened?!

Are you are still hitting Al Qudra at the weekends?

i managed an hour of 5-a-side last night, my calves are killing me today....

might do an early ride from the marina tomorrow if anyone fancies it, either up and down beach road or a couple of laps of the palm.

I have been out of UAE for last 6 months in a slightly colder climate - it was shock last night, I can tell you.

Sadly, the "orange beast" is out, so no way to transport the bikes. Can only get it in for service on Monday.

No, I was out paddle boarding. Awesome going out but coming back into the wind! Think I went backwards everytime I lifted the paddle out of the water

Ah, I thought I saw you Jason! Yes, wind was horrible, no fun at all - well not until going back down the stick! Hopefully the wind means cooler temps are coming...

So, now that the weather is starting to cool a bit, how is the cycling going?

I took part in a team time trial, with a lap of the Al Qudra loop - managed to get a PB of 1hr11mins...

I've joined the cycling fraternity as well, did the stick last Friday... not going to talk about times as it turns out I was only running 22psi in the tyres and I had a binding front brake as well so wasn't exactly helping myself.

Back on the stick again this Friday at about 6am, looking forward to it!

What times are you guys normally riding?

I feel the need for some meaningless physical exercise / competition but I have little enough time as it is.

Let's just say that a colleague who knows a great deal more about these things than me took one look, said that's wrong and increased the pressure to 60psi, also told me I needed to raise my saddle.

Having done those things it's like a different bike to ride, times therefore are probably meaningless but it took me just over 30 minutes do ride from the coffee shop back down to the first car park compared with 1hr 15m to get up there.
