Interesting feedback regarding the build up ride - hopefully this was the minority rather than majority. Wind was pretty bad, but I thought the event generally went well, I rode with the Revolution Cycles team and was very pleased our performance, averaging 39km/h. The next build up ride should be better from a passing point of view as it is the full 85km course.

As to the extensions, the first one just after the solar farm is a 18km loop, quite flat, but quite exposed, so you get help from the wind one way, and almost stopped in the opposite direction!

The second extension will add around 25km, and will be a little bit more hilly, going in a horseshoe shape, out towards Abu Dhabi and then tracking along side the Bab al Shams road.

You were one of the pelotons that came howling past me on my run back down the stick... you guys were really moving!

First time on the bike in a few weeks last night on the stick and managed a respectable (for me, on my mountain bike) 26.5kph average. Was windy but unless I was slow out and back, it didn't seem to affect my performance either way.

Some soft bits of sand on the bridge have built up - tried throwing me off.

First ride in five months yesterday. Forgotten why I hate my bike and now I remember...................

Managed one loop, bloody windy but managed to get round in one piece. Did not see another rider at all.

I was out last night. Arrived around 6pm but just did the stick. Starting from the bottom car park was fine but the head wind on the way back was atrocious. Something must've clicked though as I managed by best time of 1h25m for the stick.

I am actually going be in Dubai all of this week so I thought it would be a good idea to put some miles on the bike ready for the Spinneys Dubai 92. So like a good sensible person, I have been at Qudra car park 1 at 5am the last 3 days and doing 26km each day. The showers are warm enough. Will go to the autodrome tomorrow night to work on the racing lines.

Slight spanner may be thrown into the spokes as I may have to go to New York for a week of work..... the week of the Spinneys Dubai 92.

The wife is not impressed though with my alarm going off at 4am.....

I can't bring myself to get up that early!

I did the loop last Friday for the first time, 2h 10m was my time which I was pretty happy with.
I just need to buy my own bike now!

For those doing the Spinneys 92 km ride on December 12th, don't forget to collect you events packs 10th / 11th from Nadal Sheba. Now I am assuming they mean from the cycle track at Nadal Sheba.

Gentle reminder that you can collect your events pack today and tomorrow and not last night like one plonker tried to do (yes me!).

41kph average! you're a machine james.

i reckon ian's probably still out there hehe but fair play to him for doing it, same goes for everyone else who attempted it.

i didn't enter in the end and good job really. went to bed last night after being awake for 42hrs [race car prep] and it'd have ruined me.

I will have you know I got round in 3 hrs 10 minutes! How? I have no clue. I don't feel to bad right now but I don't really fancy going to a group dinner tonight.

The route had some nice bits and some horrible bits. Saw loads of punctures within the 1st 15km along with 2 probable broken collar bones and 1 broken finger.

Phil, your efforts with the race car are appreciated.

Thanks Phil - wasn't quite that fast - only 40km/h average!! While it was called the 92, my Garmin tells me it was actually 89km!

Well done Ian, great effort.

Yes there were a lot of crashes and punctures - people seemed to leave their brains on the start line unfortunately.
