Good to see you out this morning Jason! The changeable weather scared a lot of people away...
One comment would be (as I yelled at you as we passed - sorry!!) try and turn a slightly bigger gear if you can - your legs were spinning round and you weren't getting the full benefit of your efforts.. Appreciate that it is easy to comment, but I think it will really help your cycling.

I started cycling last September and it was pretty hot back then. This year I am planning on riding right through summer but cutting back on the distance.
I reckon an early start and finish in the dark is the plan for me, I recall getting up at about 4am when I started to beat the heat. The key is to keep the distance sensible, for me probably no more than the stick in the height of summer, and a metric fkton of water.

It took me a couple of minutes to work out who had yelled something out, as you went tanking pastOne comment would be (as I yelled at you as we passed - sorry!!) try and turn a slightly bigger gear if you can - your legs were spinning round and you weren't getting the full benefit of your efforts.. All advice taken mate, this is all new to me, trying to find the sweet spot between spinning and grinding away
The wind over the first 12 k's was brutal, but was determined to get round the full loop
