If anyone is out there look out when you pass the solar farm (I think that's what it is) you'll see some new tarmac leading off to the left around the hill. It's a new loop going in, have heard it's an additional 50km of riding surface. The facilities really are ace out there and only look to be getting better!

Just need a man-made mountain now to practice some climbing!

From foska? If so let me know as i'm getting the pukka pies and a-z ones ordered this week. Also bought a yorkshire rose jersey and almost succumbed to the planetx tour de yorkshire Ltd edn bike!

Not sure i'm going to like the lycra look but the pockets are going to be v. Handy.
I see that Planet X have put their shipping prices up, when I bought mine 4 months ago shipping was 95 quid, its currently 170

Which did you buy Jason? I'm looking at the RT-58. I could get a fitting done in dubai and then order/collect next time I go home

I ordered the RT58, size 54

You are welcome to try it for size, Andrew on here has also got the same bike, not sure on the size though

It retails at 1366, once you knock the vat off I think I paid 1166. For that sort of money I think you'll be hard pushed to find a better bike in my opinion

it'll be either the rt-58 with campagnolo chorus or the boardman pro carbon with shimano ultegra. both the same price roughly after discounts. the planetx being yorkshire made will likely swing it even with the god awful looking rear wheel! the reviews say it has a more comfortable riding position than the boardman as well.

The Garmin was showing 45 deg when I got back to the start of the stick (would have been less if I had not stopped for coffee) after 85km... Had to cool down in the showers prior to driving home.

There are 2 new sections being built - the first just past the solar farm is 20km and there will be a second extension further along the path towards Bab al Shams, and that will be 28km.

Right, bought a road bike (B'Twin Triban 3) yesterday along with pedals, cleat, bottles and bib. Already have the gloves and helmet so I might have quick ride around JVC when I am back next Thursday.

Shoes, et will be bought in the UK in early Oct.

If you want hills, get a Mountain Bike and head off to Showka or up toward Khat, or cycle up Jebel Jais.

hows everyone getting on? how are you finding it ian?

just spent a bit on chain reaction cycles' sale. i say a bit, its prob half what i spent on the bike!

i'll be clipless next time i ride though, so its all good. opted for speedplay zero stainless pedals and cleats and a pair of 2013 diadora speed racer CR shoes. full carbon sole and decent ventilation, and 70percent off rrp. bought blind sizewise though, so they best fit!

looking forward to racking up some kms soon. havent been able to exercise here for a few reasons and lack of fresh food has meant a really poor diet. bizarre what you miss but for me its the weekly footy game and a saladicious tuna tataki!
