British TV in the UAE

No complaints here, picture freezes every so often on the HD channels so we just watch the SD ones.

Haven't noticed anything wrong with the sound but I don't have mine connected to an amp or anything.

Mine is freezing regularly since yesterday. Saying that, my internet appears to be running much slower than normal over the last few days. Anyone else experiencing slower internet over the last few days?

Mine was doing that yesterday , I turned it off at the wall for 30 seconds and all has been well since, checked the internet speed on speedtest.net and all was normal


Top Tip with the volume

Make sure the bloody volume is turned up on the box

Not sure if it's of any interest to anyone but several colleagues and I are now running our boxes over wireless Internet.
It seems the boxes are rather fussy as to what type of wireless adaptor they use, the only one we found to work properly came from the UK

I am about to put another order in, if anyone wants one they work out to be 110aed each (only catch is you won't get it until I get back to Dubai at the end of September)

I havent yet but will be soon when I move into my new place. But getting the order in now

No issues... just make sure that the new place has a decent internet connection... the box needs 5mb to work properly, if your house only had 8mb and other people are surfing the net and watching youtube etc then it can go a bit flaky..

Seems expensive as you can get the same for 5 quid a month with a VPN account.

Also as these services are illegal they have a horrible tendency of being switched off without any notice. Remember DSTV?

Absolutely delighted.... I don't really think Frankie's comparing Apples with Apples either... this "watching TV over VPN" stuff never works properly, everyone I know who's tried it has given up and the simplicity of having a sky style TV guide etc etc is well worth the cost.
