I have had similar issues of late, sometimes simply turning it off at the wall helps, other times it does not

Looks like I will wait a little longer before subscribing. Buying the router is another matter...... I can pop by and get it tonight or tomorrow night Dereck if you like.

I am assuming from the early part of this thread that most people went for this service:-

http://www.uktvabroad.co/

I on the other hand decided (after this very positive review from Dubai) to go with this service:-

http://www.expatvision.net/reviews/4581579565

I wonder if anyone else on here is with them? :scratchin: !

Seriously the service is very good for normal TV watching. However the 7 day playback is horrendous. I have amended my router with a QOS dedicated rule for the service provider, and it has made a hell of a difference to the live TV. As has upping the buffering to 5 seconds. Is a pain to switch channels and wait for 5 seconds for channel to display but really limits the buffering. Occassional screen judder - but not too bad.

I am just wondering what latency/connection speeds people are seeing from here to the other service? I am seeing over 150ms back to the service provider, and a network speed test to Europe shows anywhere between 1.5mbs, and 3mbs, which is pretty poor when you consider I have a 24 mb connection (seeing 23mb down, and 6mb up to local services). I am wondering if anyone has found anywhere else the streaming is more localized, and will give better latency/connection speeds?

No point me upping my 24mb bandwidth if the issue is latency!

Also what device people are using from the other supplier - is it the MAG-20 box?

Thanks

Hi Guys, just for your information you dont need to buy new routers or anything like that for uktvabroad.co to work.

My wife got this 4 years ago when they first setup in Dubai and last year we changed to the new mag box and updated channels.

Lots of our friends have this package now and are extremelly happy with it and the service they have provided over the years.

The only issue has been the last week with buffering, after we contacted the tech department they informaed us that DU have a registered issue right now with accessing various countries at certain times of the day. My wife called DU to confirm this so dont waste money on upgrading anything as uk tv abroad is fine, its DU at fault. Remeber your not accesisng a server in Dubai but in Europe so your speed will not be the same and irrelevant on routers etc. My tv was back to normal last night so Im hoping DU have sorted there issue out.

HOpe this helps

I have to say that my version has massively improved over last 48/72 hours. Very little buffering.

I've never had a problem with mine other than on the Euro sport channel.......

Maybe they realised who I was.

Having to go down the wifi route initially. I'm sure it'll be alright!

Should work anywhere in the world, according to the guy that installed it

You just need a minimum 16mbps line

I'm still not sure why anyone would need a guy to install it?! Just get the box, and the service and plug into the internet!

That is the point I was making - you managed to do it on your own, and I have seen you struggling with Early Learning Center toys. So I am not sure why everyone else is paying a premium for it!

There is no premium, the install comes as part of the cost.... it's also quite handy as the remote control is by no means self explanatory and there are a number of neat little features that you'd never find without the chap running through them with you.

I'm now back in the UAE and have your wireless adaptors.
As previously noted 110aed each (Claire, I know you've already paid)

When / how do you all want to collect?
