Hi,

I've gone and smashed another one by forgetting to tie down my hood pins and I don't have long until the first race, I need a windshield asap, does anyone know where there [is]is[/u] one?

+1 for tyson. decent service and prices [clio was 600 fitted] but you'll have to arrange shipping yourself.

i had hoped that forgetting to lock the pins was a one-off affair. how is the embarassment factor second time around?

it fking hurt, was cracking (lol) over 100mph when it came up, I was covered in little shards and have the odd tiny cut but nothing bad, thankfully I had my eyes covered with the visor! Not a pleasant feeling even on a straight losing all vision at that kind of speed...thankfully the only think really hurt was my wallet.

6mm Perspex / Plexy?

Fit it using small strips / tabs of metal.

Don't bond it in directly as in theory for the FIA you need to be able to kick out the window. (As per FIA Crosscountry T1 at least.)

It can also get upset and crack if you drill it badly.

To help get it to fit, hot (not boiling) water and ratchet straps.

would love to but the boss of the race series wont let me, I tried this before and he won't even entertain the idea.

i'll find the pics later of me knocking the clio screen out with hammer and chisel at the evolve auto-x, that'll make you feel slightly better. i didn't even finish the familiarisation lap and dented the roof and bonnet for good measure.

have you emailed jason or spencer? both have ep3's. think they have polycarb screens now but may have a line on who to call.

if it must be glass, i can only suggest you call autoglass, seeing if dentmaster can source one [will chato - 0505144069] or call your old friends at lap57.

Update - Just called the guy, he has it available in stock. 750 dirhams if you mention the clio at AUH Motorsports on the phone.

He is checking if its for a hatchback now. Seems everyone has saloon/sedan ones but they're about 10cm too short ( i know this from the last time I smashed my windscreen frown )

Thanks, will do after checking the below nr, there is no difference between LHD/RHD if its the hatch, the saloon has a different shape though at the bottom depending on LHD/RHD

Is this Spencers old EP3 ?

Are you allowed to run with a polycarbonate screen ?

I used one of these for 2 years here in Dubai , I was fed up with replacing screens. You just have to make sure you dont scratch it, easier said than done with all the dust and crap that gathers on cars when they are sat around in between race weekends

Sadly I can't I already tried begging but they said no.

Edited to add: sadly autoglass confirmed this morning that the windshield they have isnt the right one.

Seems everyone has the sedan windshield but when you clarify that you need one for a hatchback they realise its a different shape.

Hopefully Brian, Lap57 or my importing guy can source one. I'm still kicking myself.
