Afternoon,

Long story short, drove through a large puddle which was deeper than I thought, the Patrol coming from the other way made it through with no probs by my Jeep didn't.

After stalling and sitting at wheel height in the water for a while, a local chap very kindly pulled me out and towed me to civilisation where I could get a phone reception.

Had it looked at today, water has got into the engine and damaged it also some ingress into the carpets etc.

Axa are not covering it, saying it is mechanical damage and I don't seem to be getting anywhere on the phone with them despite having fully comp insurance and offroad cover as well. Should have driven it into a lake!

So going forwards will probably (read definitely) need a rebuild, so looking for somewhere that will do a good job without totally fleecing me.

Water in the engine, means it might of hydrauliced and a good chance the engine is scrap in that case. Depending what it is out of cheaper to get a used engine.

Other water damage would normaly dry out and the engine would run.

Best bet is to try sharjah for an engine prices cheaper than Dubai and if you can take an Indian or Pakistan speaker with you, your are more likely to get a good deal.
