turns out that dripping voice i've been hearing every time i go in the maids room is a failed hot water heater. water is pissing down from a spot about halfway up the casing. reckon this month's dewa bill is going to be a large one, but at least a handily placed drain beneath it stopped the place from flooding.

just about cleaned up [all my hifi & tv packing boxes rotted through hand as well as a guitar case, water and mould everywhere] and now need someone to come and sort it all out. any ideas or recommendations?

I used MPlus to swap mine out. To be fair, they did a pretty good job. I don't think they can be repaired once the inside has cracked.

Same here, M-Plus did my bathroom heater. Good job and no problems since (about a year ago now).

Actually turned up with tools as well!

M+ is the defult answer (they're who I used as well) but I was reading another Dubai based forum the other day and a poster on there said that he took the brand name off the existing heater, googled for their agent in DXB, called them direct and they came and fitted a replacement for less than half the M+ quote he had..... I'll certainly be trying that next time!

yeah landlord is paying.

850 sounds way too cheap, especially given the size of your place.

It was only a little water heater though, above the bath in the master en-suite so I thought that was about right to be honest - it was inline with what colleagues told me it should be at least.
