lol@james. but yes the company will be a lot easier on the eye than my usual rotund norn' irish dining companion.

no specific type, as long as it's different, top notch, and no bustle. was thinking nobu before i looked at the prices!

the thai at the creek hyatt would be in with a shout but too far. i love toro toro for food but no idea what its like on a thurs, grosvenor seems to always attract nobbers.

eta: observatory is 80s chrome hell. surprised at you rich!

Maya Modern Mexican Kitchen + Lounge - Le Royal Meridien Beach Resport and Spa
Nineteen - The Address Montgomerie
Stay - One & Only Palm

Tried Fume on your recommendation. Great venue and food.

Try Certo at the raddisson blu media city, top notch Italian grub that won't break the bank. Well unless you cane two bottles of Barolo...ask me how I know.

We've been three times in four weeks, including taking some customers from work.

There is also a bar upstairs with an outside area for cocktails pre dinner.

La Petite Maison - DIFC

It's worth the cab journey to the other side of town.

Ivy was very good, great service, excellent menu with lots of Pork options and they serve Thatchers Cider. Not cheap but worth the money.

Thai Kitchen at the Park Hyatt is one of my favorite restaurants in the Dubai, The french restaurant there is also good. Worth the cab ride, plus you can take mum for a nice walk around the marina.

If she isn't interested then your close enough to the dark side to put her in a cab and continue the night with people who WILL be impressed by your jokes and intellectual conversation.

been reading some good food reviews though. has anyone tried scene at pier 7 yet? i've been to simon rimmer's restaurant's in manchester and they are great.

Scene - stoutly, heavily, resolutely British, which may or may not be a good thing...

The deep fried Halumi is amazing while its fresh.

Cracking modern Arabic food, not a good place for your waistline though.
