Border crossing to Dibba

Afternoon folks. The future Mrs TNW and I are planning a road trip to Dibba for a long weekend. We did Khasab a while back and getting there was pretty simple. I've started reading up on the border crossing from Sharjar / RAK to Oman and it's looking a bit complex! Has anyone done this recently? The hotel is asking for copies of our passports and visas so these can be sent to the border crossing. Seems there also might be a need for a non objection letter for the better half from her Freezone sponsor? Looks like it might turn in to more ball ache than it's worth!

No idea - but having got questioned at the Al Ain border crossing at Xmas, with no exit stamp in passport, am keen to try and understand the correct process as no-one seems to be able to tell me how this is done!
