Relocating to Abu Dhabi

Hi guys,
Sorry i started a thread in the jobs section which probably isn't ideal!
I've been informed that there is a position for me in Abu Dhabi if I wanted to relocate. This would be moving from a subsidiary role here in the UK to a Group role in AD. The work itself sounds interesting, if quite intense, so overall I think I am potentially sold there. I've met the people it would be working with and have no issues there either.
What I'm not so sure about is cost of living, health care, safety and things to do. Can anyone give me a quick run down of pro's and cons? If it progresses I have no idea what kind of "package" I should be looking for.
As an aside, has anyone taken their pets with them? I have two cats but not sure if the flight etc. would be too stressful for them.
I will be keeping the house in the UK, does this pose any problems tax wise?
