They seem to be living behind the kitchen units, I've put down ant killer and blocked up holes, last week they came down from the ceiling and were in the bin! God knows where the nest is.
I'm trying to be very careful not to leave anything out they would like and now the inside of the bin is lined with ant powder

Ah if its behind units that's a bit of a bugger, I had a minor problem a while back after living in the flat for 2 years with not a sight of a bug my dad stayed with me and left after a few weeks, pretty much immediately after he left I had some type of ants in the kitchen.I'm trying to be very careful not to leave anything out they would like and now the inside of the bin is lined with ant powder
Tried powders, gels, taping up gaps, then the buggers where on the walls, in the cupboards, was killing hundreds of them but they just kept coming.
Decided to gut the kitchen one day to try find the source, fridge out, washer out, oven out, every cupboard empty and then bingo.
My muppet of a dad left a large bag of quaker oats wide open at the back of a high up cupboard, no joke must have been a thousand insects in it, thing was crawling. That went in the bin and not seen any since.

We get them in the back patio - white powder (PIF PAF) everywhere but they come up through the pavers.
Kettle gets used a lot but seems to only be temporarily effective. Am sure the neighbours think "There he is again, running around the backyard shouting and throwing kettles full of boiling water around"

doubt you'll get the landlord to pay, pretty sure this is a tenant issue. 350dhs sounds cheap if they find the source and get rid.
the food source isn't the issue anyway, you need to find the entry point. its unlikely in an apartment that you will have a nest, they're coming in from the core and have hit pot luck in your kitchen.
we had an ant problem, little buggers were seemingly everywhere at first but after a few days they had a motorway going on between one of the bedrooms and the kitchen. they were coming in through a hole in the window sealant and doing shuttle runs to the kitchen cupboards. i resealed the window and that was that.
ps - don't bother putting powder down. to save on mess just get them all in the vacuum cleaner and then suck up a pile of powder. mass execution!

Our house in Barsha was full of the damn things.
We had huuuuge ones in the kitchen, came in from outside under the cupboards, they would keep themselves to the kitchen floor, picking up all the bits the kids dropped atmeal times feeding time.
The ones in the kitchen that really annoyed were the tiny, tiny ones, they would get everywhere and always followed each other in neat little lines so easy to follow back to point of entry, usually a hole in the tile grout. Block it up and they would just burrow a new one; that was a constant battle.
Then there were the normal, common or garden ants; we would have at least 5-10 instances outside of these bringing the sand up through the interlock, they would also make it into the house too.
I never saw any of them as an HSE issue, more of a nuisance and, in the case of the big ones, a stinging bitey nuisance.
Much worse was the constant invasion by the feral cats fed by the laborers at thebuilding site labour camp next door (4 years to build a villa - yeah, right) and the giant killer roaches that roamed the sewers, fed by the housemaids pouring cooking fat down the drains.....

Got that exact issue in my underground, some utter muppet keeps leaving a lovely 3 course meal out for cats in the car park in open containers, ive left notes, spoke to maintenance nothings been done about it. Naturally the tools had left this food next to my car on a few occasions resulting in my space becoming a p*ssing ground for the smelly b*stards. Not sure what goes through peoples minds leaving raw meat/biscuits out in an underground car park, wont be just cats eating the stuff.
