Asking a question on behalf of a friend

Married couple who are separating, the guy currently has HSBC accounts reliant on his wifes sponsorship (Residency Visa)

His sponsored residency visa will be cancelled in the next few months, he works internationally (offshore) and gets paid into his HSBC Account...

Possible issues??

I have heard of accounts being frozen when the final salary payment is made but he won't receive anything like this as he doesn't get paid by a UAE company... his wife has nothing to do with HSBC.

Thanks for any help and experience you folks have had

Can he get into a branch before it happens to ask?

I've had both sides of the coin, moved jobs end of April and HSBC account wasn't affected, previous move which was Sep 2012 they froze the lot because I had 200 aed outstanding on a credit card, despite them receiving final salary and a large chunk of gratuity.

My other half works for HSBC, I can pass the question on to see if one of the CS people in the Jumierah branch know the answer.

Trouble being is what the front office thinks will happen versus what middle/back office implement are often two different things.

Do you know if he is Premier Customer?

surely its as simple as opening another account [uk or offshore], transferring the cash in the uae account and then informing HR of the change of bank details.

offshore account would make things easier but there shouldn't be any tax implications as long as he is complying with current rules on no. days in uk etc.
