Has anyone ever disputed a fine and won?
I accept the 5,600 I have amassed, and the 1800 I paid for the Mrs recently...but the one I received today in the new motor for "lane discipline" (200) is just false. Would you be bothered out of principle?
This was the officer standing on a street randomly writing plate numbers down... Not seen that for several years now.

no. i'd fight something that was patently false [i.e. wasn't at that location at time of incident etc] but your word against a copper, behave!

Funnily enough I've just been down paying off my years fines this morning.

I had a single speeding fine for the 12 months, but when I checked the date it was at 0330 the night/morning after I'd been at a brunch. So I'm 100% sure it wasn't me.

But I just paid it to allow me to reregister the car, I don't know how I would prove it wasn't me and using the line "I was drunk so it wasn't me" isn't going to be the best defence around here.

No accompanying photo?

The missus had one wrongly attributed to her, they'd read an H as a K, she got that removed with one phonecall

Live and learn! I'd heard it wasn't so easy and just wanted in and out.

Next time I won't leave everything until the last minute.

yep, I have managed to get a fine removed - the number plate was incorrectly read, and I was stung with the fine... It is a real pain to argue though. Has to be a Dubai fine (otherwise you have to go the emirate the fine is from - Porsche once had a fine for 6.30pm on a Monday in Sharjah - no way it was ever there!) and I was sent to the offices down in Deira near the airport. After an house of hassle it was finally removed.

Also had a Salik fine for the Porsche - again number plate misread - the fine was for a white 5 series BMW, not a red 911... that was relatively easy to get removed.

Got fined for speeding on my Motorbike a few years ago. The fact it was Sharjah and in August meant it could never of been me, never ridden in Sharjah (Why would you?) and it was August, bike was never ridden between May and October. went to the police and asked for the photo, turned out it was a taxi with the same numbers. Admitted it was wrong but wouldn't give my money back, s. That was a few years ago so maybe they have a better system for refunds now.
