2016 Dubai 24hr

Right oh people, with the year drawing to an end it can only mean one thing, yes the Dubai 24hr is rapidly approaching.
We (ZRT Motorsport) have entered our Honda DC5. There are quite a few local teams (Lap 57, Memac Oligy Racing, 2W Racing, SVDP Racing and Dragon Racing) entered so there will be plenty of local teams to support.
We will be in garage 10A and running under no. 48 and we should look something like this:
Do feel free to drop round and say hello (with or without kids in tow).

You are more than welcome to base yourself out of our garage area if you want to charge batteries and download cameras.

I am completely and utterly fried having gotten 6 hours sleep Thursday night and have been awake since 6am yesterday.
To many "Code 60" periods during the race but then it did make deciding the correct strategy calls more challenging.
Thanks goes to shirt for the ice cream bar last night. I told our driver at the time that the pit lane was closed as we were eating ice cream.....

I don't know how you do it! I was wrecked had only popped back and forward a few times.
Said hello to a Dutch mechanic from Jason's garage but otherwise thought best not to wander around busy people looking for user names from a car forum :-)
What were the car numbers of the PH cars that ran?
Not that mine are anything special (probably pooh to be honest) but I think I got photos of all cars including exiting down the bottom corner at end of the straight so can give them if needed?
I was curious to see an official photographer at the corner (when I was there during the night) using a flash - is that normal?
I bumped the ISO up on mine, panned like a deranged manic and prayed to the Canon gods for a 'keeper' but deliberately did not use a flash. I can't think that it would be good at all to have a blinding light in darkness as you were coming into a turn!

Jason - sorry to hear that, that's not the sort of finish you guys want. I'm pleased you got the car to the end of this one. Sorry to hear you got so much damage.
I've never seen a race track with such a density of cars and such a speed differential. Beats races like the birkett 6 hour by a long shot. Some aspects of race were really scary to watch from the stands.

Its a shame but after competing in 8 24hr races with the little BMW it probably deserves a rest
The race here has now moved up several notches, and sadly I don't think it will be long before the A2 class dies a natural death in Dubai.
Dealing with the speed differential is manageable,the issue is that some of the drivers dont think you should be on the same track as them because they are in faster cars. Trying to push someone out of the way going through a corner is just bloody dangerous
I used to enjoy the Dubai race but the amount of GT AND 911 variants has now increased to a level where it is almost dangerous to be competing on the same track as them
Some of the driving standards were appalling. You certainly could see the difference with the Pro drivers and the guys with money buying seats in quick cars
The guy who took me out in turn 10 basically run out of talent. It was his out lap on cold tyres and his only excuse was that he did not remember the brake pedal being so long. End result just over an hour in the pits replacing the rear arms etc. and patching up the body work
