Just read this, keen to try the 2 hour rookie session, just trying to round some mates up as well.
I'm up for the starter session but won't be around for 3-4 weeks

Riding on sand is like nothing I have done before. I rode on the road in the UK for years and have done quite a few bike track days but at first I felt I knew nothing (I was doing the 2hr beginners course).

There were 6 of us in total and the instructor took us to a flat area with small dunes and let us ride around whilst he watched. He would then get you to follow him around when he felt a rider could be more adventurous.

15 minutes later and I was giggling like an idiot and started to be a bit more adventurous, ie: riding up some short dunes and looking for little sand ramps to pop the wheels what must have been 2" off the floor.

Every time you feel the front is going to wash out or fold, you open the throttle and away you went with no drama.

Will I be going again, err you darn right I will be.

I can highly recommend doing the 2hr beginners course if you have never ridden on sand.

No aches yet.......

Ian - sounds like you enjoyed it!

I loved it - but unfortunately did unwittingly hurt myself on my 4 hour ride. So will be a few weeks before I can play again.

My wife sent me a link earlier though - there is a group on offer on this :-

So, I forgot to report back!

I did the MX Dubai KTM 2hr ride a week or so back and... I absolutely loved it! I did come off a couple of times though and injured my hand (didn't stop me at the time), but I'd definitely do it again.

Be warned though: you will use every single muscle in your body and if, like me, you might not be in athletic shape, you will ache a lot.

It's an incredible experience and definitely one for the bucket list.

I might be doing the 2hr again in a couple of weeks as a mate of mine wants to give it a try. His other half will be booking the session for his birthday so I might just have to tag along. He is a bit quick on the track (bit of an understatement that!) so it will be fun to see how he gets on.

So, I'm shortlisting bikes this week. I have been looking at a few and bought a bunch of gear from Revzilla to ship to UAE for a flat fee of 50$.

A few questions for those in the know (and may benefit others keen to get riding more frequently)

- Is there a social network/fb group/forum to link riders and arrange rides?
- I found this map with some riding location http://www.xtremedubai.com/motocross-where-to-ride... How accurate? keen to have a look at those places near the greens.

Cheers

Thanks, had a look and left a message. Nothing really recent there.

Looking at a few more bikes this weekend. Have bought a trailer and all the gear. Now need wheels smile and riding buddies.

Once I'm back in town, come ride with me on Friday's. Good group of lads.

Can't wait.

Bought a KTM 450 XCF. My god is that fun.

BTW the Groupon offer is back on for those who fancy the KTM experience.

my name is Stefan, manager of Elite Dune Off Road LLC and owner of the
brands "mxDubai" and "Justgasit".

I was informed by customers that payments have been made cash to Mustafa
(our former customer service employee) in the past week for pre bookings.
These payments and the related bookings never arrived me.

Please Note we never ask cash deposits from our clients, only bank
transfer or paypal is offered.

As a reaction I terminated the contract with Mustafa with immediate effect
and opened a case against him at dubai courts.

If you have paid to Mustafa in the past weeks, don´t worry, we will manage
your tour anyway and will not ask the money again.

Enjoy your evening and hope to see you soon.

Best regards,
Stefan Thielecke

Likewise. I paid cash both time I have been.

Paying cash was very helpful as I had to adjust my dates twice.

So Thanks to RichAR and his late night Dubizzling, I now find myself a few AED lighter in the pocket. Was a good deal, and even though it is not Orange - it is close!

I think we need our own thread for meet ups now. Anyone else fancy taking the plunge and joining us?

I also have a load of bits and bobs that came with the deal, some that I do not require as I brought my own kit from the UK. I know advertising is not allowed and the Dubizzle advert will disappear shortly (http://tnydu.biz/D3fa04) but if you drop me a line with anything you fancy I can let you know if I am keeping or selling.

Nice (I learned of the purchase first-hand from Rich_AR last night over a beer).

That is a very nice bike. It looks spotless and Husabergs were renowned to be sort of "elite" bikes. Best components and all. I'm 100% in for a thread/meetup/whatsapp group. I've only been thrasing around Hessa st by myself and it's great but not as fun as in a group. Banter et al.
