I know that this seems the lazy way to plot a route but a few of us tour for a week each year but always in this country, so Scotland and Wales etc.

This year, we fancy sailing down to Santander and either basing ourselves somewhere and touring locally - or doing a 7 day loop.

My concern is that without some guidance, we'll select some roads wrongly when there are better, more scenic ones that we should have chosen.

For us, it's the ride and not the destination and we would prefer to stay off the major roads and instead enjoy the twisties or more scenic areas.

We don't want to do a fast lap of Spain, more to visit areas in the North, or just over the border.

Oh and we'll be on two GSs, a Yamaha Cruiser and maybe a Pan.

Any guidance and advice would be great.

Cheers

May I suggest you post in biker banter, there will be many members who have done this already and can recommend routes

Check out the N240 to Jaca and continuing on the N260 to Biescas for a start, smile Biescas has a few nice B&B's

Here's a suggestion. Go to this webpage:
http://superdeportivoscantabria.es/en/

IT's the webpage of a supercar event that is held in Santander each year. In the program for each year, there is a published route that is typically fantastic. I've participated in this event for the past 5 years or so, and these routes will make you think you are in the Alps! Well, almost...

Go to the "history" tab. Begin with 2015. Click on "program" and you can see the routes used that year. The "Saturday" routes are specifically designed for 200 supercars to go play in the mountains. There is no real destination - it's just to see fantastic countryside and mountain scenery. Proceed to 2014 for more ideas, and then 2013, etc. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the routes posted.

Thanks for that!

Sadly due to limited sailings and space, it looks like sailing to Santander and then heading up to Roscoff for the return.

Still lots of roads and views etc...

+1 for that. Used to drive it daily for 3 years smile.
Avoid the toll roads (although they are good for making progress if you're in a hurry)
Basque country and San Sebastian worth a visit too. Beautiful coastal views there also
