How do you insure your 10yr+ car?
Discussion
Only thing I can figure is maybe Phil's correct, they all do it though AIG where the total value of things being insured exceeds 300k
Otherwise I have no idea, someone many moons ago mentioned having 3rd party insurance locally and arranging top-up insurance to Comprehensive using an International insurer but I have no idea how that would work.

I have fully comp on the fezza 2 polices one for local 3rd party uae insurance, and a second top up policy for physical damage.
I used Rahul at http://www.greenshield.ae/

There is only one I know of, AIG Private Client Group (Not main AIG).
They insure my E Type Fully comprehensive and have done other classics I have had. (About 2% of value if I recal, or just over)
All other insurers will generally only do Third Party, which is well cheap. I used to pay like 550 AED on my 1982 911 3.0 SC. That was with AXA if I recall.
Cheers

Just tried greenshield and spoke to th very helpful Rahul. He thought he could get me fully complete cover in addition to the third party cover he found at a very reasonable rate. Unfortunately, as the underwriters (lloyds London) considered the car high powered and not as old as their usual pre-1998 usual age requirement, they couldn't quote me. So, if you have a relatively powerful 10-18 year old car you are in a no mans land of third party only. Otherwise, you are sorted. Thanks, Jason for the lead.

I had a Clements IVRM policy, which provided comprehensive less third party cover, with the third party cover taken out locally. Cost was about 5% of the agreed value of the car. Never had to claim on it fortunately so can't comment on how easy making a claim would be.who is 'they' and what car?
would be useful to update this thread with relative success when achieved. jase has managed it as have others we know of so there is a route in place. i think it depends what you're trying to do. for example i think an 07 911 or amv8 would struggle as they are not exactly rare motors. an 07 f430 scuderia may fare better.

On my side, I managed to insure my 2008 G55 but not without struggle.
Rahul was brilliant. Recommended.
However, the insurers did try to kill the valuation of the car first and I had to insist on a certain value (otherwise it would have been pointless to insure fully comp).
If I keep the car another year I am pretty sure it will be impossible to insure fully comp unless the rules change.
FYI
