Help settle an EK ticket debate please

I would say so.

I often used to do DXB, LHR, BOS return with BA. Tried to drop the DXB to LHR leg once as needed to travel somewhere else prior, BA let me know that it would be a very bad idea for me to do that..........

Any update on this, has she tried to get the next flight yet?

Only asking as someone else recently tried this with another airline (CX) and got the whole itinerary cancelled and not sure if there was any refund at all as it was a restricted fare ticket.

No not yet, she is still in the office.

I will only know early Jan how it went for her.

To close this off, just spoken to her she had no issues DXB-MAN (and the flight was overbooked).
