It's an amazing spectacle. Can't quite get my head round how when the first car has completed lap 1, the 92nd car has only just crossed the start line.
That would mean that the last car got lapped on the before (or as it started), thats not quite right is it. Certainly the leaders were lapping cars pretty quickly. ZRT got lapped on lap 3. It is crazy.
Yeah, I'm exaggerating, sorry.

I was in the diesel touring car class in 2011. We were around 90th on the grid at the start and got monstered by the leading pack in no time. Having also raced in a car that's quicker than most of the grid, I think it's harder managing the traffic around you in a slow car. Night time is the most fun: on the back straight you spot two points of lights, gradually growing bigger in the rear view. As you brake for the hairpin you let the lights roar past, but before you close the door you have to check you don't get wiped out by another four pairs of lights in a train behind the leader. It was nuts.

Arse, can't get the quotes to work.

...and I was being pedantic. :-)

Anyway, its a cool race, and an experience that it quite rare to find across the world for racing. Long may it continue.
