Im moving to Bahrain next week, currently living in England, and i was wondering if there are any meets/regular track days that happen?
Not knowing anyone out there i haven't really gauged if there is a expat car scene out there? i will have my own car but i doubt it will be anything special!

I have been following the Gulf Run so looking forward to that at least!! smile

Any feed back would appreciated!

Dunk.

Regular track days and sprint races at the circuit. Most of the expats there come from Saudi Arabia.

There is a track day this Friday at Sakhir - I'm going along with my Dad for a morning session.

Looking forward to it, should be fun. Maybe even say hi to some PHrs living here.

Anyone got any local tips, how do the cars hold up in the heat? Dad has a new Scirroco and we are using that - it's more for the experience than anything else.

I've done a couple of track outings at home, so know about checking fluids, wheel nuts, tyre pressures etc. Is anything else needed?

What about covering number plates, do people do that here?

Just read your post. We were in the black Corvette. Hope you had a good time. You should do the CRC sprint race. A Scirroco in the last race was fast.

Hi Fahad,

I take it from your profile yours was the black Corvette on KSA plates? There was also a black one from Bahrain.

I was in the grey Scirroco driving (slowly!) during the morning session, but came back with my wife and son for her to do a passenger lap in the V8 Supercar thingy in the afternoon.

Was very impressed with the whole set up at Sakhir - well organised, no silly behaviour and the place virtually to ourselves. For the space, and a full F1 circuit, it was great value for money.

Corvette(s) both looked stunning, and the noise on full chat down the main straight was awesome - sounded just like the Le Mans cars!

Hi, I was there last friday too. I was visiting my mate who has just moved there and have to say it was a great day out.

We were in the beast that was the boggo Mitsubishi Lancer automatic, which absolutely and categorically was not a hire car whatsoever.

I think we managed to keep out of most peoples way as they sped past us! Anyone get any pics at all? One of the vettes looked to have a good video set up on board, but not sure which one it was.

We really were going as fast as the little thing would carry us, as testified by the tyres after the first half hour out there:

Presumably this is your 'rocco in the background? It looked nice, loved the colour of the leather! Took these photos on my phone though, so they aren't the best quality.

Some of the other stuff there:

Yes, it was the Saudi Corvette, driver was Husam, coach was PH member Maxx. I was the guy snooping around and doing nothing.

I raced last year in that old V8 Supercar model, my car is at Rockingham school, I think still has my livery and name. Husam is racing the same model this year. My team is racing using the new 2009 cars, ours posted above.

I am building a replica of our V8 Supercar to use for track days and promotion. You and your family are more than welcome for few passenger laps.

Thanks Fahad - will be sure to book my next visit to match with another event! :-)

And Tom, yes that is the car - it belongs to my Mum though - I'm just out on holiday for a couple of weeks.

Hey, didnt even know this forum existed within PH. I was the driver coach working with Husam in the Z06. It was an awesome car, pretty standard apart from a set of Hoosier Semi-Slicks. Husam is making a number of mods though, not least to the cooling as we could only really do a full-on lap and maybe one more before the temps shot up and we had to do a cooling run.

I did take a few pics, only of the vette though i'm afraid

It was good to see some fellow Brits there, be sure to come along and support the V8b Supercar Series, the drivers you are looking for are Raed Raffii in Class A and Husam Al-Saleh in Class B
