I love it, TVR owner in 'I spend a lot of money on this car' shocker!

Seriously though, it seems a little strange that both of the two TVR Chims in Dubai are for sale. Coincidence?

Now that blue Chim has been haunting me during the night. I've always wanted one and it's the kind of car I could keep for as long as I'm here but what is the market like for LHD TVRs if one was to buy it and then need to sell it at a later date?

As much as we all love them the pool of buyers must be quite small.

I think one of those has been for sale for at least a few months as I saw one on dubizzle back in December, as a person with previous experience of TVR and knowing the coditions out here I decided not to bother.

I must admit my search for a interesting classic as a daily drive has evaporated, the idea of sitting at the side of the road in 40+ does not appeal.

I'm now looking at a Challenger SRT for later in the year.

Talk about pissing on a man's chips!

You do have a serious point though, I was being a hopeless romantic.

Sorry,

However, a LHD drive TVR would be a good long time buy, as very very few were made. Furthermore, the market back in Europe would be quite big, I know quite a few people who live in monaco and other european locations who would love the idea of a LHD TVR.

I'd love the blue one for the winter. I'm still waiting for my Oman resident docs though so can't own/register a car there yet.

I owned two Chimaeras in the UK...a 400 and a 500. Never let me down once. And why should it? I know the concern of heat problems...but it's just a RangeRover engine...why would it be any less able to cope, given an appropriate cooling system upgrade...which I'm sure must have been done already? I can imagine the A/C system would be inadequate though!

Now if we were talking about a Cerbera/Tuscan/Tamora etc with the Speed 6 or AJP8 engines...then I might run away very fast!

The problem is that the GRP body does not allow heat to dissipate much compared to steel.

Speed Six cars don't have such a heat issue, but we all know they take more looking after in other ways.

A chap who used to run a Rover-engined Chimaera in autocross events out here used to break down regularly due to the heat. I don't actually recall one single event he managed to completed 4 laps. He tried one season and never came back.

Saw a silver convertible Chimera or Cerbera (i always get confused between the 2) in Media City today.

First one i have seen in the last 3 years, got me more excited than most exotics due to not having seen one for ages!

Convertible = Chimaera.
Coupe (2+2) = Cerbera.

Although they look fairly similar, I am led to believe they are two very different cars. thumbup

The Cerbera was my teenage bedroom wall poster favourite. Well, until my brother came home from uni with a cracking poster of Cameron Diaz for me!

Hi Chilli - I do own a garage... and you didn't want to know me before! :-)

You can find us via www.salukimotorsport.com - the website is (very) temporary at the moment until the new one is up and running. Drop by for a chat if you're in the area.
