So, are we going to organise something soon? I have the Parents-in-law over tomorrow for a week, but after that perhaps?

Matt, free to stay over if needed.

Cheers.

Sounds good - I'm up in Dubai this weekend with a friend who is visiting from the UK. Looking forward to Wild Wadi again! Give me a text if you're out and about in the evening.

Hi,

If this is open to newbies, I'm interested.

Moved out to Dubai a few months ago, living in Uptown Mirdif, always up for a few beers with fellow petrolheads....

Could be cool - I remember the first time we tried to meet up for beers. It was meant to be at Barasti but I made the schoolboy error of not getting a mobile number and I didn't fancy the idea of sideling up to people and mumbling out the side of my mouth 'Pistonheads?'.

!!!
How about a "passphrase"
Rock up to a bar, and walk around approaching strangers, saying something like "Hi...What rubber you prefer in this heat?"

I see 3 outcomes....

1. Hello mate, fellow PH'er here, what you having?
2. Feck off pal, before me and the boys tear you a new one
3. Hello sailor, I always ride bearback....let's go.

If we are meeting up within the next two weeks, the Jebal Ali Club would be a great place to meet - cheap beer and damn good grub. Also, we could sit outside and chat on the open terrace - at least we will not have to shout.

Sounds like a very good plan. Why only within the next 2 weeks?

I guess it gets a bit too warm.

Yorky - is that the one near the turn-off for the karting?

I'm up for those beers too. I can't this Friday but pretty clear for rest of March.

Should be a good time as well just before it starts to warm up a bit.

Calls you Sailor does she? Say no more.

I would love to join in but I'm on MBA workshops this weekend and then on assignment lockdown until April 19th. That'll teach me for thinking I'm smart in negotiating sponsorship for it from my boss. Good job I'm not only EIGHT weeks into a three year course isn't it....oh, hang on...

....just checked, I'm free back end of 2012!

Jebel Ali - bit out of the way, isn't it?

Can I suggest the Monty?

And not just because I can walk there.

Well, ok, exactly because I can walk there (and, more importantly, home)

How about somewhere near the Greens? I heard the Sports bar somewhere in those new hotels is pretty good?

And the Greens area is pretty central for most PHers.

Well, a few people seemed to be departing for "blighty" and all that.

The Jebal Ali Club is located in Jebal Ali Village, not 5 mins from Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall.

The JA Club reminds me a lot of a Working Mans Club back in the UK for some strange reason!

Appreciate that its kinda out of the way, but seeing as a lot of peeps work in AUH or live around JBR/JLT/Marina, its a location that is easy to get to and from within 10mins od those locations.
