I've spoken to Etisalat twice over the last few days and they assure me that my line is now working properly and it is soley down to the majority of bandwidth going to government and business.

I work from home so maybe Al Barsha is deemed to be unimportant.

Btw - When I do Etisalat's normal line tester (download their e-support software) it runs at over 400kbs download which is normal.

I have no idea what all those numbers mean, but they look very impressive!
My connection at home had been fine up until last night. Absolute pants. My work access was ste yesterday as well, but seems much better today....so I'll be around more!

Was it just this cable in the Med? Also, those that tested their speed....are you with Eti-st? Also, how is this done...sorry, was off that day.

Interesting topic this as I have a meeting with the boss in the next week or so to sort out our new Dubai office and one of things on his agenda is whether we need a V-Sat provision that's external to the country.

From the sounds of the posts here, that would be a resounding Yes!!
