Gents, after selling my Porsche in March because I was doing too many kms in it during my commute from the Lakes to the wastelands of Muhaisnah I got back from hols last week to be told I'd lost my job. I was gutted and shocked but after a really s
tty ten days I've got a new one, thank god, after being saved by my CEO.
Mixed blessings but my commute has now been cut by about 70% so it turns out I could have kept the Boxster anyway! HID keeps going on at me about Mustangs, and they're so cheap now it's almost rude not to. The devil on my shoulder is saying 'you'll never have a chance to own a car like this again' whilst the angel on the other is saying 'that's no bad thing.'
Does anyone here have any first hand experience? I daren't ask the wider PH audience as that 300bhp/ton bloke really gets on my tits. One issue is that my office is above the Porsche dealership on SZR - could I walk past all that pork every morning and not feel a little silly for not getting back into one straight away?
There are some silly priced cars out there at the moment, you can get an 05/06 GT for 60k or something a little later for 75.
(H as in Hitch78 by the way, changed it by accident but can't find the bit to change it back!)

Go to 'My Info' on the menu bar at the top, click 'Profile' on the drop-down menu. Edit your login name and then click 'Update' at the bottom of the page. Job done.Can't help with the car dilemma, but I say go for the 'stang.

Can I just ask....Is it the power you crave? No idea about Mustangs, but a mate has been looking at a few E55 AMG's, and they are stunning cars. Went out in one yesterday, that was 550bhp, and it flew. 2004 model, for around 90k....seriously tempted to swap the X5. SRT8's go like the wind as well.

Same company which is why it has all been pretty quick - I was sacked by my Director and then rescued by my CEO. A roller coaster couple of weeks, sorry, er, just a normal couple of weeks in the UAE.
Power is part of it, but so is owning a ridiculous car. I was looking at a C43 a couple of weeks ago, a Jap import with about 40k on it and I was close...so close. What put me off is that I've got decades (touch wood) to drive german-luxo-saloons and whilst I've not had an AMG yet I have had the 3 series, 5 series, Saab, Merc experience and I'd like something with some character.
Corvettes are on my list but they're a lot more expensive and whilst I could wait a month or two I'm sure you know that itchy foot feeling of a man with money to spend and dubizzle at the ready. Plus my Dad is here this week and the thought of me picking him up from the airport in the Wrangler which now seems to have my kayak on the top as a perm fixture isn't quite what I had in mind!
Maybe I should just rent one for a couple of weeks to get it out of my system.

If you have any interest in things called corners, then avoid a Mustang at all costs. They're fine in a straight line, but apart from that, aren't exactly what I'd describe as agile. And despite the big engine under the bonnet the GT's are pretty slow too.

I love it 2 bits, obviously a very difference proposition to something like a boxster or the aforementioned luxo barges but has bags of character..
Modding them is easy peasy, there is an active Mustang club here, the owner of which is a true fanatic and very knowledgeable guy, he has arranged for all (admittedly little) changes to mine.
Have you been in one yet?
Putting my Borla back boxes back on tonight (had to put stocks back on to get through Tasjeel) so she will sound like she should again.
Tracked it up at the autodrome once, of course the handling left some to be desired but on the main straight a Carrera S couldn't live with me

Yes, the car is warrantied not the driver, mine still applied up to 60kIf you want to be ripped off, there is plenty there.
The only other integrale sold there that I'm aware of turned out to need much more work than the value of the car (and it looked cosmetically very clean). There are plenty of examples of badly crash damaged cars being patched up and sold there, and as for stolen vehicles, I am at a loss to explain how they get away with it.

I got mine from Al Awir, but it was a GCC spec and therefore an Al Tayer import, I called and gave them the VIN and they checked service history etc.
But yes caveat emptor when buying there.

There's loads of Stangs in this part of the world, i wouldn't think twice about buying one if i had the cash! If you get one you have to get it with the five spoke daisy mags! A guy at my work just sold his much to my disappointment, black with daisy mags, S/S exhaust, had some work done to the suspension and what looked like a torsion bar on the rear, big aftermarket air filter too.
Bit ironic with the job thing, sell porker due to lots of work miles (heavy right foot), loose said job after selling porker, get new job closer to home so now could have kept car, new job above Porsche garage! DOH!
