I bought my mustang new in 2008, no real complaints about it - yes, the handling is not like european car. Back in the UK I have a smart roadster, mildly modified and on a decently twisty short track (like Knockhill) I honestly think the smart would be as quick the mustang. The thing that makes the handling so bad is also the thing I like most about the car; a rustic little old skool design feature called the live rear axle, this gives a graceful slide when powering out of corners and the power delivery is gradual enough to tempt out the tyre smoke and the engine gives a good rumbling; its a lot of good street theatre and as the weather keeps the conditions dry it is all easy to control. I bought the car as a decent GT as was travelling almost from bottom to top of Qatar on my drive to work, so the lazy V8 and comfy seating, decent sound system and good air conditioning was important for me. But my work location has moved and my drive is now more city commute; but the mustang still makes the journeys fun and even after a long day stuck at a desk it still manages to make me smile - Its not a good car, it has many flaws, better cars are out there but I do not think any other car can gives as much reward, satisfaction and fun; especially as they depreciate like stones and are great used buys. But today I did see a Merc SLS AMG and think Im in love with it, might have to sell the mustang, a kidney, big bank loan and sell all my assets to get a SLS - but apart from the SLS not many cars would repalce my mustang, we have had some good times together.
That's almost exactly like what I'm looking at - except this one has a Shelby style spoiler which I much prefer. The wheels are the same design but silver and I think I'd get them painted like those, but perhaps a little darker like a gun metal. Add a set of matching stripes and we're away! I think that the non-California Special ones benefit from a front splitter too so would look into that.
Must go and purchase tomorrow!

That has an aftermarket air intake similar to mine, free's up around 20 horses with the accompanying tune.
The wheel style is called 'bullitt', the ones on the black one look too big to be OEM, they are larger ones in the bullitt style i believe.
You are right, the Shelby lip spolier looks much better than the GT one, tis why I removed mine completely, just need to get round to having the holes filled, will get them done when back in the UK in June.
Gratuitous picture posting and mod list below

- Wheels painted
- Rear spoiler delete
