You'd probably be better off arriving via Israel with your life's collection of Razzle under your arm and wearing one of those comedy beer can holding hats with straws than smuggling in a case of pork!

It's just hit me that I can't remember the last time I tasted a salty rasher. I'm not massively tight but paying 7 biffs for bacon in Choiterhams that has Iceland 1.99 stamped all over it really pisses on my feet.

My dad was on a work trip to Q8 a few years back ( before 9/11 ) and took a pack of black pudding out in his luggage for a English customer of his... he didnt even make it pass Southampton airport before he was asked by some men with machine guns to accompany them to a dark room with his suitcase on a table, turned out that it wasn't the fact he was taking a pork product to Q8, more the fact that on the Xray the black pudding just showed up as a big black mark (Or possible bomb!)on the screen!

So yeah, don't bring any pork.

To be honest i don't buy it much here, not because of the price more that i have to go out of my way and past a perfectly good supermarket to get it, i only noticed the price the other day as i bought 2 packs and some milk and it cam to over 9BD!!

Shall be landing in Dubai about 9pm tonight aiming to have beer in hand by 9.30. smile

I once came in with a 7kg rolled joint ....... of pork

X-rays don't see flesh, only bone.

On the up-side.. don't bring cigarettes, petrol, cars or knock-off handbags smile

Ahhh, im sure I can reduce my salty rasher intake !!!

Maybe Ill wait a bit before bringing over lots of joints and flesh mmmmmm makes it sound so tasty.

Oh well at least the stuff you can buy is top Iceland quality no problem paying so much for something of that quality :-)

Dont forget if you really want to push the boat out we've got M&S over here!! Its all frozen stuff though.

Oh and having just got back to Bahrain from my little trip to Dubai for work, after you've gone through passport control in Dubai airport before getting your bags make a left into the duty free and stock up on as much booze as you can! You can buy beer too, Bud, Heiniken and Corona..

That lot are getting hot in customs too.

just got back from the USA and they ripped my bags apart. I reckon if I hadn't let an absolute stinking ripper go he would have had his fingers up my butt too.

Send that form to HMRC to tell them you're leaving the country... I got a few quid back from them!
Form? What form?
Can't remeber the number but it basically tells HMRC that you're leaving the country. If you leave part-way through the tax year you're almost guaranteed to get something back because they annualise your monthly salary to work out your tax conts.

I don't think you will, I didn't. I had to do a self assessment to get money back.

It took about 4 months for me to get the cash and I had to chase it up. I didn't need to do a self assessment though.
