I've sold my mustang and now tootling around in a rental, its not great. But found this advert and thought it sounded like a good town car...

But is the SL65 AMG not suppose to be a bi-turbo V12? If this is, as I suspect it is, a SL500 V8 or at best a SL55 AMG with some rear badge alterations (as it looks like its missing 4 cylinders and also the AMG body kit) - its not a V6 SL350 but pretty sure its not a SL65 AMG, how can you really tell, any SL guru's that can solve the mystery?

Shouldn't the engine cover have AMG on it if the SL65? There should also be a double vent just in front of front wheel arch which is missing on this car

The same car is on Qatarsale advertised as an SL500 from a garage called Roxy. Cant say i've heard of that place before or know where it is but it's not one of the well known dealers. The photos on Qatarsale are slightly different and the badge by vent on the front wheel arch says V8 Compressor i think.

Yes, pretty convinced she is not a SL65 and not an AMG, think its a SL500 - but that is fine for my modest needs of town driving. Im going to have a look at the weekend and use the argument the car is a pretender to work the price down to a more realistic figure. If I buy will strip the badges, would be more concerned if it was a SL65 that was crashed then rebuilt as a SL65 with SL500 parts - sure a inspection will clarify this. Thanks for the guidance, had my suspicons and thought some p'headers would know the difference.

Black is a bit of a problem with the dust but get on well with my local car wash. Does look great when its clean and sparkling.

I would have thought, the last thing you'd want would be a Fake AMG65 that's actually an SL500...which the last loser owner has 'upgraded'. If you want an SL500, I would go and find an unmolested one, rather that one that's had an enthusiastic tinkerer for an owner smile

Ideally yes, but since their is not a great deal of choices to pick from it might have to be as good as it gets.
