Hi - I have recently bought a G20 to race in the CSCC Modern Classics series, unfortunately my first drive at Silverstone ended with a spin at Brooklands caused by a fractured ball joint on the upper wishbone. I have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to identify the origin of the failed part - even Ginetta away they don't know where it's from. Ideally I would like to replace the upper and lower ball joints on the wishbones and the track rod ends (just to give me some confidence for the next drive). I would be very grateful to anyone who could point me in the right direction.

Hi,

Do you have any pics of the parts you are trying to identify?

I did some design work for a new suspension and looked at quite a few carryover balljoints. A long shot, but I might be able to recognise what you have.

AFAIK the G20 shares various parts with the latter series G27 cars, some suspension components in particular. There's quite a bit of G27 build info online so that may help, Saab 900 ball joints are mentioned (including their propensity to fail on G27s) but I've no idea whether they're correct for the G20.

Worth asking in the normal PH Ginetta forum further down too, plenty of knowledgeable people there and generally more traffic to get you a quicker response smile

Hi - thanks very much for your helpful suggestions. I believe I have now tracked down the parts. It appears the top ball joint is from an early (pre '86) Ford Transjt van and the lower joint is from a Saab 99! Thanks again for your replies
