After a spell away from Motorsport I'm looking at possibly purchasing a G20 for racing. Can anyone tell me if the chassis or engine spec changed in anyway during the life of production? also is there a list of where various items for the build were sourced, to make it easier to access replacement ball joints, brake spares etc etc.

If you know of any nice cars for sale please post or e-mail

Thanks

Well, there's a thread detailing the sources of various suspension ball joints and bushes on here just a few down Sherlock wink A mixture of old Ford Transit, Saab 99/900 and Triumph something-or-other by all accounts.

There were at least a couple of specs of cars over the years so I understand, I don't know much about the earlier ones but the later GT5 spec cars are tougher drivetrain wise with a more-or-less standard 1.8 black top Zetec breathing through Jenvey throttle bodies putting out ~155bhp, type 9 box with Quaife internals and a Quaife ATB diff in a Sierra housing. Brakes wise they are Ford sourced callipers, fronts Granada/P100 according to the pad part numbers and rears Sierra rear disc model, Mintex 1155 pads.

The Ginetta Challenge regs are a good source for such information http://www.ginetta.com/pdfs/ChallengeRegulations.p...

Next question - does anybody know the source of the exhaust components on a GT5 spec G20? I'm after cat converter and potentially a silencer too... Ta!

Hi. I believe that the G20 was developed during 2001. Kits were available to be built for road use, but many were factory built for use in the UK Ginetta one make racing series where they raced against the existing G27 cars during 2002. From 2003 the race series was exclusively run for G20s for several years until the introduction of the higher spec G40 cars.
