There is always that chance but it all depends on the relevant dates. The last couple of years they have only been a week apart so the CSCC decided that it was a step too far to expect many members to do both and therefore chose to promote its own grids at the Spa Summer Classic. If the dates are further apart then maybe the CSCC will investigate both.

Nothing stopping an individual doing Spa with the CSCC and then travelling on to the 'Ring I suppose and entering yourself. Hugo at the CSCC office may even be able to help facilitate that if you ask, not sure?

Thanks Andy..

From what I can tell by the powers of Google the Spa and Ring "classic weekends' are the opposite end of the month this year. So fingers crossed.. but I'll have a chat with Hugo probably at Autosports or Race retro

CSCC will be running Modern Classics again for 2014. It was an encouraging first year with good grids in the 20s+ at Snetterton (x2), Brands, Donington, Oulton and Castle Combe. We have good interest already for the new year and a good calendar here: http://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/calendar.htm

The series will be largely the same as it was in 2013 but there is the addition of one new class and that's for FWD only cars of any age and of any capacity (or a max of 2 litre turbo), so if you already race in CSCC Tin Tops with us you can have a second race, or if you have a FWD 2 litre turbo or a > 2 litre FWD car that CSCC does not yet cater for such as an Alfa GTA, Post 2000 VAG turbo, Astra VXR, Focus ST or a Mini Turbo then you can race in MC in this new class.

Its not the intention for MC to be a full post year 2000 series but this new class is a toe in the water exercise to give these sorts of cars some where to race within CSCC and maybe to see if there is a demand for a series for these cars in its own right at some point in the future.

The regs are here: http://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/Forms/2014%2...

Andy - going to do a few races with you next season - how far in advance do we need to book (thinking of Spa too).

Thanks

If you have not raced with us before then you usually need to do two races with us to come to Spa with us.

There is an on-line booking system available on the clubs web site so as soon as the races are on there you can book up. Otherwise members will be sent out race entry forms and Supplementary Regs in the usual mail and you just have to return ASAP! The club does enforce the late entry additional fee and late entries are not available on line. First come first served.

Registration forms for the Series are available on the web site. You can download those now and return them to the club office by mail or you could do them at the Autosport show.

hi Andy
I would like to run in modern classics this year as I have bought a new AJP Tuscan, I will be changing the induction and fitting a new bonnet to keep the silhouette but it has a drenth dg400 sequential box, they did have these in some cars back in the nineties, just need to know if I can run with it or not before I bother changing the induction. it is not really an option for me to swap boxes alternating between CSCC and BRSCC as the motec system is all mapped for the sequential.
cheers

Hi Tim, the box and engine have to be the ones that were sold with the cars at the time. Yes owners run drenths but these were not available from the factory.
With out being political I am not sure why Tuscan challenge cars run in modern classics as they were nether road cars, they wanted to produce some as road cars but nether did, all road cars are registered by owners from previous race cars.
I will buy a Tuscan challenge car in 2014 as I really want one, still one if my favorite cars I have ever driven on track.

Hi Tim

I'm afraid that you can't run a sequential box in a Tuscan in Modern Classics as it was not available from the factory in this configuration. Sequential's are only allowed if they are things like the Porsche Tiptronic, VAG DSG or BMW SMG box in the same car type as available for the road.

To answer Paul's question about the Tuscan in MC - we allow them in to MC as they were allowed in to Future Classics some time ago under "cars in the spirit of the regulations" factor, and the fact that the Tuscan was originally planned to be a road car. It's a special case, I suppose.

Hmmm Modern Classics, very tempting.

Andy - did the Ginetta G20 get the green light for the series?

Cheers

Will be out in a few rounds as there's quite a few clashes with the PCGB series. I think we'll be a little more competitive this year with a much improved car (and driver) and hopefully will be able to take on the M3s at the front. We did get a win in the first round with some luck but they were just too quick for us last year

Also will do the 750MC Roadsports

I was banging on at him all last year about this Mark, but children, houses and work all seemed to get in the way.

We made vague plans on Bonfire night to do at least a couple of races in this series in 2014, you never know we might actually get our fingers out and do it.....

Yes, we had a couple out at Brands Hatch and another couple out at Snetterton at the end of the season. Great cars for the 1600-1800cc class and quick enough to trouble many other cars in the bigger engined classes. Can't be many more cars about with the sort of performance (and reliability) these cars can give for £5-6K. Would be great to get a few out regularly.

Regretting selling mine, but then MC didn't exist then.

Yes, I was very pleased with that, and I didn't even pay them!

Or you could do all of the Dunlop Production Porsche series races AND MC (on the same tyres!) at the same CSCC meetings and get plenty of track time for your (travel) money, and just do the non clashing PCGB and/ or Roadsports races!
