"Modern Classics" 40 minute race series
Discussion
Most used Kumo s or Yokos last year in the previous series where as I raced a Porsche and used the Mich Cup. Pricey but they are the only one available in my size. If you re at the Test Day in March have a chat with those there. They are a really friendly bunch, organizers included !
In most of the CSCC Series the tyre choice tends to be between Yoko A048s, Toyo 888s or Dunlop Dirrezzas depending on size and budget. I don't think that there is one favoured tyre over all the others.
The Porsche runners often use Michelin Cups because they can then use the same tyre in the PCGB series, however, I understand that the PCGB series may be switching tyre supplier but not sure whether thats for this year or next.

2013 - Pirelli - and they're having dry and wet sets too!I am entered into the Brands event in May and Donington in August so far, in a Porsche 968, first test day at Brands in early April as not driven this circuit before. Was at Donington a few weeks ago with RMA also to understand the track as new to thsi game. Just doing my sponsor package at the moment. D
Yeah qualifying was very busy.
We had a mixed weekend, happyish with the lap time in qualifying even thought it was cut short with a black flag because of a mix up in signing on meaning only had one flying lap..
However a terrible race for us, car was misfiring and running bad from green flag lap and was down massively on power meaning 4-5 seconds a lap of our proper pace and retired after 6-7 lap as started to worry I was damaging engine.
Hope fully we will have better luck next time.
Had a good race in future classics as well, but the bad luck struck again as front bumper broke and lost a minute and half in pits sorting it but still managed to come back to finish 11th after the issue so please with that.

20 cars for the first race of the new season (and for the new series) which was very encouraging. I think everyone enjoyed themeselves and driving standards were excellent.
There was a great mix of cars out and some excellent performances. Unofficial driver of the day was Tom Roche for me who won his class despite having to get an engine from Essex for his MX5 Mk1 between Qualifying and the race and then fit it.
It was a shame that the Saab broke its driveshaft in qualifying as that was beautiful, unusual and has a great history.
There is a great basis for the series to build on and I hope that we will see some more cars out in the lower capacity classes, particularly, in the near future. It would be great to see some more MX5, MR2, Lotus Elise and Ginetta G20 type cars out to add to those that are already playing.

Mr Card
I did wonder why you didn't just go straight past us !
Still 4 secs a lap would of been boring for you

We're giving it some serious consideration for later in the year (2 of us share the car, so it makes perfect sense). Can't commit to much at the moment as we want to iron out the bugs (which means track time, which neither of us have had the time for so far this year), but we like the look of this series. We'll probably try and get to a meeting in the not-too-distant future for a chat and a nose round the paddock.

Let us know by PM which meeting you want to go to and I'll see if I can get you a free ticket. We can meet up and have a chat.

Yeah just a shame as was looking toward to the race. We did had a good battle for a few laps but just did not want to do any damage to the sngine as it was misfiring and not running on all cylinders. Oh and congratulations on the win.
Just been watching the video - good little battle

I am delighted the Woof and Co really enjoyed themselves and I hope that we see them out with us throughout the year - tell your Boxster mates and bring them along too, LoL. That said the guys in MX5s and Elises etc etc are just as important to the club and we really want them to have a good time too. We need to build more interest in these classes so that they have their own class battles (and a giant killing opportunity, too).
We enjoyed the race to. Although i think we are trying to punch above our weight a bit with only 220 bhp in class D in our 994 s2. We may have to move to future classics after Brands Hatch. Its a shame class D changed. I dont quite know what happened to supposed grandfather rights. Never mind. Bazz
