We were using Kumho V700 hard compound, which is my fault. I looked at the forecast Thursday and left the wet weather option at home. Made it interesting aquaplaning in a few places. Which tyres were you running?

Yes I completely understand were you're coming from.

We usually race in 750mc roadsports hence all the aero we have, we are thinking of doing more TDT races just wanted to get a feel for the series before committing to a class, which is why we came as a guest this time.

We were running Dunlop DZ03g hard compound, had set the suspension stiffer at the rear to try and cure some understeer after qualifying, ran out of time to go soft before race. Was a nightmare!

I run Direzzas, shockingly bad in the damp or wet!

Strange, the Porsche racers I know in our series swear by them as the best of the List 1B tyres for wet or damp conditions.

That's probably down to wrong tyre pressures I should think.

Tyre pressure and suspension settings would make a massive difference. You don't generate much load in the damp, so if you've got aggressive camber, the contact patch will be small.

What did you think? That was a quick time in quali by the way. What sort of bhp per ton do you think you're at?

Andy, yes that's true, but remember I was over 2secs ahead of most of them (inc Luke, who we know is a super-quick driver) in that damp quali session with CSCC at Donington last year? I was the only one on Kumhos. Dunlops might be a bit harder compound and not get as warm as easily, but they definitely have much better tread pattern to clear water once it gets proper wet - when Kumhos become very challenging. How Staceyboy managed to carve his way from last to the front at Silverstone in torrential conditions on Kumhos is testimony to his driving ability. I'd have been off into the barriers, er, like I was in the wet there earlier in the year.

Final observation: Dunlops seemed to be really strong at Rockingham. I spent much of the race managing my tyres, whereas Ball/Hughes were flying in their 968 on Dunlops, which still looked perfect after the race. Sounds like we need a set of wheels with Dunlops and a set with Kumhos idea but ££££ wobble

The dunlops are not very good in the wet. Ask luke!!. But we can make them last a season, which is good for us as we dont have a lot of money to throw at it. This obviously means they are a hard tyre. so therefore they will do a 40 minute race without going off. And stop cheating young man!!!!!!!!!!!. Only joking. God knows what they would call us if we came to race with you. by the way our 2 very good cars are coming up for sale so tell your porsche mates,if they want a competive car that is legal ,to give us a call. Good luck Steve. By the way are you doing the porsche festival at brands on the 21st??

Haha! You're right Bazz, I didn't beat you once in a race last year and your 944 would also be in class B for MSV TT. I wish you would do some TT races with us - you'd help people realise that being quick doesn't necessarily mean having the fastest/most powerful car. Also, thanks for your kind comments earlier in this thread smile
No, I've not entered Porsche festival on 21st. Do you need to be a member of PCGB, and are you doing it? Let me know, and I might see you there for a head to head for old times sake!
ps I saw that Luke was quick at Donington in CSCC - over a second quicker than my fastest time ever there. Great driving!

Hi Steve. Yes we are doing the race. Its on the indy circuit. It should be a great day. Porsches of every kind. We even have Gt3s racing with us. You can still get an entry. Contact Steve Kevin 01608 652911. You dont have to join the club. Come on lets do battle again. Bazz

Last question: list 1B tyres not slicks?

We are running on our dunlops B1 tyres. But some cars will be running slicks. Steve Kevlin told me there would be some handycap system in place.

Ah, that probably rules us out - no way we can compete with cars on slicks. At £450 to enter it's not cheap just to get lapped loads of times.

Kind words Steve smile

Proper aquaplaning in places. Wheelspin in 4th and fifth all the way from the last corner and down most of the start finish laugh

The MINI is a doddle to drive in the wet mind. Makes you look like a right hero. I don't mind that though smile

Hi Stace - yes I plan on doing Cadwell - best track in UK alongside brands GP and Silverstone GP. How about you? Have you sent your stuff off for Birkett?

I should add these were on my Clio and I struggled to get them even mildy warm in the damp or wet but it was very very cold too and sleeting at Snett.
