MSV Team Trophy & Trackday Trophy 2014
Discussion
Good to hear first race went well, looked a little lonely on the grid tho ?
Unfortunately we couldn't make this one.. We decided to have a practise day at Cadwell to give the car a pre race run out.
This was the result
'Hoping' to be at Cadwell in April but there is work to be done !

Really enjoyed watching you guys on Saturday, Bruce im guessing you were in the number 27 Clio? Two very well managed drives!
Great battle for a bit in the team trophy between the Caterham, an Astra, the VX220 a BMW and a Focus which was monster in a straight line! Shame about the contact that seemed to put the VX out though.

Yes that was me, thank you! After terrible qualifying (wrong tyres) for both TT & TDT, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome of both races. Apart from a few buttock clenching moments of my own doing, it was thoroughly enjoyable. Lap times were considerably slower than testing on Friday but it was much colder and damp at times during the day on Saturday. Gutted for my friend who came off at the first corner but the car will be up and running again very soon!
I was a little disappointed with the grids, I think it was 21 for TDT and 13 for TT, is it usually like this?
Very disappointing grid numbers. Not sure where they've gone wrong with this series (or more of how they're going to fix it) but its a real shame. Its a really good concept so I hope they can sort it. Perhaps they left it too long to tighten up on all the power to weight cheating.

ive thought about TD and TEam Trophy a few times but the hassle with getting cars tested and dynode has put me off more than once. With CSCC you have no Championship, but easy to go racingDan

have the right car and/or spend a LOT of money. Power to weight ratio (if policed correctly) is a great way to have a very competitive field and it was a very successful format. Unfortunately it would appear there was a lot of people taking the piss with their power figures and it's taken the organisers far too long to sort it out. Lots of people gave up on it last year and it would appear more have given up over the winter.
I also think it was a mistake to get rid of the lower power classes in TT and I think the 250bhp/tonne class is also a mistake.

Let's see what the grids are like at Cadwell and then Brands in May.
I think the grid was low at Snett because first it was on the 200 and lots of people don't like that format. Then it moved to the Saturday and people had already made plans and then a few people like me just don't have their car out of the shop Add it up and you have ten people missing from the grid.

Most of the cars have gone to 750mc roadsports. They have similar p/w regs to TT and their own mobile dyno. So p/w rule enforcement causing a depleted TT grid is a red herring. You touched in real reasons for exodus from TT, which are:have the right car and/or spend a LOT of money. 1. class D kicked out, replaced by class S: low cost race cars replaced by expensive ones. Forced those with class D cars to go to other club series.
2. teams from TDT that didn't have a novice driver kicked out: some of them were in class D or E cars so no longer able to do TT. This also caused those kicked out of TDT in other classes to consider their options, and their friends/team mates to do the same.
3. Significant increase in TT entry fees: anyone left in TT after the cull from 1 and 2 were encouraged to look at other series.
TT has morphed from TDT graduate into 'mini endurance series', with associated higher costs and faster cars. I personally wish it success - people like Nick at MSVT worked tirelessly to build the TDT/TT to top the UK's grid size ranks in past years. For me it was combo of price hike and a team mate kicked out per 1. Maybe as a future championship it could flourish. Anyway, those are the big 3 reasons. Not enforcement of the regs - which should be taken for granted wherever you race.

Agree with what you're saying Steve but you misunderstood me with regard to the P/W enforcement. I was saying that it was the lack of enforcement that was causing the problem, not the recent efforts to ensure enforcement.1. class D kicked out, replaced by class S: low cost race cars replaced by expensive ones.
