CSCC Spa Summer Classic
Discussion
I just received a letter for Hugo Holder of the CSCC asking me to issue a full apology on this site that i made on about the COC at Spa and that I also stated that the Coordinator of the Mag Sevens had used cut tyres in previous events.
So to clear this up - i would like to apologise to the CSCC and I'm so very sorry to the COC I hope he didn't take personal offence to my statement.
I also stated that the Mag 7's series coordinator had used cut wet tyres in previous events. I've now been told that he hadn't ever actually raced them on track, so I apologise for any confusion. These tyre regs don't affect me anyway and it's not my fight. I don't race in the Mag 7s. I just felt it was a little unjust to be ban something that was previously allowed or ignored. I actually went out of my way to help mediate at Spa and came up with the resolution that everyone was happy with (but didn't actually take up!)
Re the COC - The briefing wasn't clear. A mixture of FIA and MSA regs - and opposing statements made by the local official and the MSA COC. So I wanted to clarify how the safety car would be deployed and the procedure around it. I've raced in different series across Europe and it's never the same. But the COC at Spa deliberately went out of his to try and embarrass me and belittle me in that meeting because I asked a very straight forward question. Anyway it wasn't the right thing for me to say - so I fully apologise for my comment.
I've been a big supporter of the CSCC and the Modern Classics in particular. The competition and support that I've brought has been part of the reason the MC has become so successful in the last 2 years and I've brought new competitors to the grid.
So I hope this clears everything up. The CSCC is a great little series and I wouldn't let this put anyone off competing in it.
