Its always a rolling start so no over taking until the start line, then go for it from there
Not quite correct, rolling start and go for it when the lights go out, its the start line for the safety car. If you wait until the start line you'll be left behind, and I'm not there to help you this time!

PS if you need the " goods" again ask Richard at CTR. No Prob.
The "goods" ?! wink

Its racing from the lights surely?
Different regs for different series/countries - so we need to ask this in the briefing.

Well mine was a disaster.

Back home after what can only be considered as the most expensive lap of Spa ever. Engine failure meant I only had 1 on pace lap in testing, thought we'd figured the problem out, only to find out in qualifying that we hadn't and it was a terminal issue.

No racing at all. Months of preparation and expectation for nothing. Gutted not to be racing against Will Sharpe, although I take some solace that my wiper blade took him from 49th to 13th - at least some of my race budget was well spent.

I was in the 928 in the future classics. Couldn't believe how bad the rain was on the last lap of race 2. Worst I seen there in twelve races since I first raced there in 2007. I aquaplaned at about 20mph through the last few bends. Had a great couple of races, glad i didnt have time to upgrade the engine yet as it would of been a disadvantage in these conditions. On a bad note we got pushed into the barrier at about 65mph on the way home by an arctic at about 4am on the m40, smashed the motorhome and trailer but luckily we all ok. Think the driver fell asleep. Shame we have to wait a year to go again!
That 928 was lovely !
At least your OK - re the motorway shunt.
I'm debating what to do at the moment about my car. The engine is still running so it's nothing major but any engine work ain't cheap and typical that I don't have an engine sponsor this year !

My Video of race one does show off your driving talents as I followed you for quite a few laps enjoy.......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxNf0wHPC_g

Excellent weekends racing will take some beating although Combe in a couple of weeks with CSCC should be good as I have both my cars out that weekend ,Rover in Future classic's and Chevrolet in Combe GT's, will be a hectic Sat/Sunday. Sorry to hear of your woes Woof, some think similar happened to me at spa a couple years ago when I broke a diff in qually with no spare available.

Does anyone know where to find the photos the chap taking pic's from concrete wall, inside of la source ?
Great video - challenging conditions.
I think I was drinking champagne in sunny Bruges at that point. Still would have swapped that to be on track (don't tell the g/f)

There were a lot of admin / organisational issues over the weekend.

Terrible to hear of your problems davspeed - that's not fair at all. And something that important should have been covered in the briefing or notes. Or perhaps someone should have told you !

Starting with the briefing - I think I asked a perfectly normal question (yep the one about the SC procedure) and had the COC have a go at me. In 14 years of racing I've never seen a SC deployed correctly or in the same way, so seemed a perfectly acceptable question. Surely it's better to ask a question than to get it wrong out on track ?? After all - we're the bloody customers here.

Then the Sevens competitors were told on the morning of qualifying that the couldn't use cut tyres that they had been using for every season of the series. Although the tyre supplier confirmed that the tyres were safe and the practice had been going on for decades (Rallying use cut tyres all the time).

It seems that someone on the grid complained about their use and subsequently everyone that had been using them, which turned out to be quite a few suddenly had to find an alternative.

The Lotus had been turned away from the holding area, then returned and still raced on their cut tyres, and was subsequently thrown out of the race after taking a podium.

To me it's an absolute nonsense.
Firstly on the basis of the organisation. It's totally unjust to pull that kind of change of regs at the 11th hour. I do understand that there was some question over the insurance BUT - a change of the CSCC regs could have been made and that would have resolved the matter.

The Porsche Club of GB used cut 1b tyres for almost a decade without any issues or MSA insurance problems.

Most of the tyres we race on 888's etc are useless verging on dangerous in the wet.
We had the same problem in Caterhams for years when we running on ACB10s - lethal in the wet, eventually they changed to a slightly better tyre.

There's no real cost saving from saying you can't use a "cut wet" tyre. It's safer and it's cheaper with a view that an accident it less likely. It's not a rule that says you have to use it - but it should be a choice.

( Perhaps this needs a thread all to itself )

I'm very much a supporter of the CSCC and 750MC series.

However, if the Mag 7's coordinator was using the cut tyres like the entire grid, then it's all total nonsense.

And it's clear that the other runners in the CSCC series Future classics etc where using cut tyres as well for many years.
