Those lads should be invited to the Brands round of BTRA trucks, or maybe the Nascar Euroseries at Rockingham. Perhaps even worth messaging Kyle Busch to see if he'd accept a guest drive smile.

The guy that is hosting it on youtube is nothing to do with it. Can probably do without people thinking it was him and giving him abuse!

Correct. I had about a hundred messages from people who thought I was involved. I was over 200 miles away at the time. My other videos are from my failed attempt at going racing. Some are mildly amusing.

We were in the garages for the Production GTI races today and were issued with a special notice to demand that the rear garage doors remain shut whenever possible. Scary that they managed to get on circuit, but I doubt anyone planned for such idiots to attempt what they did!

I certainly hope we don't see a torrent of abuse of marshals because of this - its an issue for circuit security. More difficult admittedly on club race days as parking is in-field to start with.

Not making any excuses but in qualy and race, you use the lights to determine whether its safe to leave the pit lane. When an endurance race is one , other formula are not queuing up for their race so no need to police the race cars from entering the wrong race. lol. I admit open empty pit garages are a risk but quite frankly, I doubt anybody would have expected a member of the galactically stupid would do such a thing. I was there and would never have anticipated it. I can also confirm the guy is a knob, knew exactly what he was doing and quite proud of his endeavour. Lifetime ban from all British racing ccts is a start.

We were racing there (FF) when this happened. Our race was after the fun cup incident. The gate and route onto the pitlane was still unmarshalled and open. For those that know the assembly area and scrutineering bay, it was that large swinging gate that allows access from the service road behind the pits onto the pitlane.

Whilst nobody could really anticipate such an incident, they could have shut the stable door after the horse had escaped on track at the very least.....

I was racing on the track when he came out of the pits, he certainly ruined our race and lost us championship points. The sad fact is that it will now make everyone's life more difficult getting in and out of the paddock in future club races. The fact that we all have a permanent radio link from the clerk of the course meant that the race was stopped immediately he left the pitlane, so the danger was minimised by their quick actions.

Maybe you were watching a different race to everyone else? Especially the thrilling side by side battle with Tom Ingram and Nigel Greensall in the wet which had everyone on their feet with the lead changing at almost every corner, and the fact that there were 6 different cars leading the race at different points, with the overall lead changing 10 times in total, and the fact that the battling leaders were only 3 seconds apart after 3 hours when it was stopped by that moron. This is the reason it consistently has big grids and professional drivers want to take part and love it for the pure racing involved. But maybe I'm just biased wink

I'm a bit confused. Was this guy apprehended and arrested? How has that on-board video found itself on the internet?

Ok so the external shot kind of made me chuckle, but wow what a monumental arse, really hope he gets punished to the greatest degree possible, it was a deliberate action that put the lives of other at risk.
Points to his stupid mate who at the very start of the video confirms the drivers full name AND tagged him on facebook after.

World class idiots hope they throw the book at them.

The driver Zac Craig Copson, posted it on his Facebook page yesterday. But he had no privacy settings so it was totally public. It was shared 1000's of times on FB and then it started showing up on Youtube and Twitter

The papers got hold of it about the same time.
The Sun win the headline war - Formula Dumb !

The "driver" has taken down the video now but the police are involved and suspect he'll be arrested at some point today.
However, this is just trespass and that's a civil matter. So I would expect he'll be released with no charges.

If, he had driven over Palmer's precious grass at any point, then that would have been a different matter

Onboard video from the car that he passes in the pitlane

There's some debate whether it some marketing viral video. But looking at the guy who posted it on FB - I can't believe it is.
however, watching this spectator video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp1lF0bmBCw does make me question it. I don't recognize the commentator ?

Zach was the camera man, Jack Cottle was the driver as the camera man helpfully states at the start of the video and tagged on the video.

Is there no scope for any driving charges? Or not because it was a 'closed' circuit?
