IT isn't a viral thing. I was there. Just a pillock.

Shame as the funcup race was actually pretty good!
Pretty good??
It was an AMAZING race :-)

Well, the first 3hrs and 40 minutes...

15 cars in qualifying covered by about half a second, the first 3 cars within 3 seconds of each other after 3 and a half hours. It puts F1 to shame ;-)

(Again, like JT, I may be biased)

Is there no scope for any driving charges? Or not because it was a 'closed' circuit?
being a closed cct does not exempt you from driving laws...

I would have thought you could also be looking at criminal recklessness, criminal endangerment or the like too...

Good, well hopefully he gets some serious charges put against him.

Please, please throw the book at this anencephalic pillock. And his girlfriend (for allowing him to drive her car), and the drooler filming it (there's got to be some offence in there.) And a lifetime ban from all race circuits and taking away his road licence would be a good start.

Kent Police are reviewing the incident - http://www.sevenoakschronicle.co.uk/Video-Reckless...

Hopefully a file will go to the CPS for prosecution under Section 68(1) Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
Maybe the girl whose car he was driving could also be done for aiding and abetting. Daft bint.

looks like they work for them selves at CJZ Contractors, good job, as Otherwise i think they might be looking for work. Although I'd certainly be cancelling any contracts I had with them..

Not really sure what could have been done to prevent it. it was just luck there was an empty garage. Im not sure you could expect a marshall to stand in front of an on coming car ...

with a split paddock like brands there are always a lot of non race car movments to get team members from the outer to the inner paddock..

It's so easy to do. Don't even need to go through a garage.
You could just turn hard left and go straight on to the track before the control tower. Or there's an escape road that goes down to the Cooper straight. To be honest my gf got totally confused the other week when she came to see me and didn't know where she was going for a moment !

Hopefully they'll prosecute for something. Obviously didn't give a toss for the competitors, the race or all the time and money spent getting there.

I've always found the marshals at Brands to be excellent at their job. I guess you just wouldn't foresee stupidity on this scale?!

I think the fact that the Daily Mail have printed the same information in their article might have more of an impact than a post on a motoring forum, calm down dear

It's the same at any track. Have the audacity to try it on and it will probably work.

MSV or plod have to prosecute for this otherwise its the green light for every knobber to have a go..

the video shows definite intent, they know what they are trying to do and they know they shouldnt be there...

reckless endangerment, trespass... waste of oxygen ? any legal bods care to make a suggestion

My worry is that H & S (closely followed by the MSA) may come down of the Circuit/Club for failing to prevent it happening

you're not alone in thinking this...

BRSCC etc are the victims here, not the cause.

if said scrote has a driving licence, it should be removed for a period, (then extended re-test), the girl should also have it removed (it was her car), and the idiot filming done for aiding and abetting.

sadly, I can't see any of this happening.

can you imagine the outcry if somebody had hit them and (god forbid) somebody was seriously injured or killed?

Nice to see 'proper' journalists trying to make the idiot look like he's actually done nothing wrong.

He shouldn't have done it. If a car actually hit him, I hate to even think of what could have happened to him and his passengers.

I do hope the police will take action and not hide behind the private land aspect, if someone threatened to kill or endanger someone else on private land or otherwise they would be on it instantly, this moron did endanger others and deserves a serious deterrent to stop him doing this or something equally stupid in the future, if he keeps this sort of thing up his future could be somewhat limited !!

I was racing in the event and at the time of the incident we were up to third having started in 13th, all was going well and we had time to improve on our position, 2nd place was a definite possibility and a win was not out of the question, this idiot caused us and other terms to accept our positions prematurely so cost us and others championship points.

Fun Cup competitors pay a lot of money for our track time and in race fees, I am therefore looking at the legal possibilities of starting a combined law suit/class action against this moron to re-claim our race fees and costs as he ruined our race. With 26 teams or so in play at an average cost per team of say £4000, then he could be looking at £104,000 plus legal fees in compensation, that will wipe the smile of his stupid face for many years to come !!

It pains me to agree with Scuffers wink but the likely outcome of this will be even more restricted paddock access at club meetings. We don't get enough paddock passes/wristbands when they are issued, but generally that's only at the bigger meetings and we're not there that often.

I hope that this can be viewed as the one-off actions of a dhead and there's no need to change a system which has worked reasonably well up to now.

It needs to be done Rod for the sake of everyone racing in the uk.. I'd be happy for the MSA to use some of the funds they get from our licences and fees to go towards a prosecution

It kinda does. The circuit's not a road for the purpose of the Road Traffic Act so dangerous or careless driving doesn't apply. Trespass is a civil offence, so no power of arrest. The offences suggested above don't exist.

The difficulty is, it's such a unique set of circumstances, the laws not really set up to deal with it. A RN officer got onto Silverstone a few years back while the circuit was closed, rolled an MGF? and killed his mate. He was charged with manslaughter and acquitted.
