Thanks for the explanation Woof. Some of my team mates were working that race and I've worked in the pits at Fun Cup events previously. Had that girl grabbing the wheel caused the loss of control of the car in the pit lane we could have seen some dead mechanics/drivers/marshals.
I hope the fun cup drivers get together and do go after this guy in the civil courts, irrespective of the police outcome, he may then wish he didn't live his life like every day is his last.

At what stage did the red flag come out ? Once he was back in the pits then putting a red flag was a bit OTT ?
Within seconds we had word over the oneway radio to pit as soon as possible. This mixed the field hence why they then tried to regrid everyone for a ten minute sprint race that ended in more broken cars and a red flag. There's clearly little point in taking civil action against the driver to recover monies, as he is unlikely to have assets or money with which to pay.
Also, and perhaps more to the point, the negligent organisers would be the more suitable defendant, were the purpose recovering monies.

Well here's a thought; undoubtedly the people involved were bonkers to try such a daft and dangerous stunt . Not surprisingly their actions have resulted in a lot of comments to the effect they should be locked up , sued and prosecuted and few would disagree that they should be punished, the only question being how heavily .
There's a 'but'- some months ago there was a thread about two lads speeding down the A19 dual carriageway in an Evo and something else quick. They were caught doing 140mph in busy Saturday traffic on a road which has lots of farm entrances etc and they were driving just feet apart. Whilst most replies agreed they were idiots a surprising number didn't, quoting Evo's great brakes , fact that 70 limit asinine , nobody injured etc . In my view they presented a huge risk to the public- because like it or or not mum ferrying kids to cinema doesn't expect a car doing 140 to appear and it's disingenuous to believe otherwise.
The Brands incident arguably created fewer risks- every driver concentrating very hard, no more than 28-30? cars on track, harnesses and helmets, emergency and medical facilities on hand etc and whilst nobody expects a Polo to be lurching round, drivers in races do have to expect the unexpected such as debris on the track .
Just a comment , not an endorsement of either action but intriguing why the lynch mob has formed on this one but didn't on the Evo incident which i maintain was far more dangerous to far more people.

Maybe it is the sub forum it was posted in? I'd say most people in here (club racing - those of us who want to drive fast, but have invested their own time and money to do so without endangering others, and to do it as safely as possible) wouldn't be too impressed with the Evo thing you mentioned? I hadn't seen the thread about it.There's a 'but'- some months ago there was a thread about two lads speeding down the A19 dual carriageway in an Evo and something else quick. I don't think any of the drivers would ever expect 3 morons in a Polo coming out onto track!Still, it's really stupid and dangerous. I know what you mean, but it's a case of if they were hit by a car at racing speed, it'd do a lot of damage to them.
It's at least good to see that the Fan page for this idiot is getting more abuse than support

"no one battered an eyelid"
Jack, please don't ever use your "testice" or "colonies" to reproduce.
If I was that girls father, the only eyelids battered would be yours.
