Morning all
I currently run a 968 in Modern Classcis and am in the process of buying a 997 Cup car to race in 2016 but will enter it into New Millenium first for a full season before other events on slicks and wets to see how I get on.
I am aware there is a Gen 1 cup car in NM and wondered who that was and what tyres you run the car on that are eligible MSA compliant as spec. I think you need to adjust the suspension settings when not running slcks which is easy with the team support I have.
Thanks

The Cup car that raced in New Millennium at Silverstone was run by the Amspeed guys, pretty sure they ran Dunlop Direzzas although they experienced a tyre issue.
Cheers, David

Does New Millenium allow for cars with non factory fitted engines (that use the original mounting points) or are there any plans for this in 2016?
Thanks
You'd be better asking that question direct to the cscc office as I'm not involved any more but I doubt it; all the series, with the exception of the Special Saloons and Modsports series have always insisted on the oem engine type for the model. Thanks

Hello, Thanks
Drop me an e-mail at david@classicsportscarclub.co.uk and I'll do my best to help once I know what car/engine you have in mind.
Just signed up in Taster class for Silverstone GP after a successful weekend in a different championship.
Already I'm 6th reserve! I knew it was going to be a popular event, but not this popular. Reserves still get to run in qually, so I'll get a few practice pit stops in and it'll give me a good feel for the championship!
Tyre wise does any one run their own version of wets & drys?
I'll elaborate: My current championship forces the use of a hard compound, and are less than ideal (useless) in the wet, no big deal for us, as every one has the same tyre. Where tyre manufactures are open in CSCC do people run hard for dry & soft for wet, or medium for everything?
Side note: looking at the regs 1A tyres are eligible, so I could use my wheels & tyres off my daily, (daily and race car both E36 328s) as wets (Goodyear Eagle somethings). Does any one else use 'normal road tyres' for wet race use?

Welcome to the club and series
I'll let others reply who race in the series, but I know that some use 1A Uniroyal Rainsports as 'wets' with some success and I can vouch for Eagle F1s as a decent trackday wet weather tyre, but it's unlikely to give you the lateral grip a softer compound tyre would provide.

Hi guys.
Here are the 3m highlights from my race.
I caught the Clio v Evora crash which took out the leader.

The rest of it I was on my own so quite lonely....

Great footage of my spin at 4:10. That was quite a moment which my cameras failed to pick up..https://youtu.be/0EfkjbFXxw4

Likewise of your footage of the yellow Clio/Lotus incident. In the pits we had no idea what happened there, just saw the Lotus driver storm from his car, slamming the door behind him.Edited by eastlmark on Saturday 7th November 23:09
2016 season nearly upon us, who is running this year?
We are out in our Clio cup, Ricky has a new co driver, Phil Gardner, for the first few races at least.
Once again would like to see some more Clio cup racers out this year. A lot of these cars sitting around idle, why not get them out there for some 40 minutes of fun at far cheaper costs than Clio cup series- sequential gearbox's welcome!

Just out of interest, Which is the better bet, the X65 or the X85 versions? We are out in our Clio cup, Ricky has a new co driver, Phil Gardner, for the first few races at least.

so, to answer your question, X85.
Thanks for the reply and the info. I'm just curious really. But I'm surprised by your conclusions! I'd have thought that the lighter weight of the X65 would have been a significant factor in its favour. I do remember being told that the X65 was quite lively at the rear, so maybe the later model is more stable and able to give the average club level driver more confidence.
I suppose it would be interesting to compare lap times between the 2 models with the same driver and same tyres, but not really practical. I wonder what the relative lap times were between the 2 models in their original Clio Cup trim?
