I suppose it would be interesting to compare lap times between the 2 models with the same driver and same tyres, but not really practical. I wonder what the relative lap times were between the 2 models in their original Clio Cup trim?
Just done a quick comparison from TSL over 4 different tracks, of the fastest race laps in the Clio cup between the x65 in 2006 and the x85 in 2013

Oulton park island - 1:35.243 (x65).....1:36.7 (x85)

Donington National - 1:19.345 (x65)...1:18.243 (x85)

Brands Indy - 52.813 (x65)....52.85 (x85)

Thruxton - 1:24.818 (x65).....1:25.617 (x85)

Not much in it. All races were dry but obviously no idea what temp or wind differences there were, or whether on different spec tyres. Of course thecClio cup runs on slicks.

As already posted, but clipped from the NM Regs: Bodywork: Cars may have non
standard splitters, diffusers and rear wings.

Looks good though with the super touring splitter & wing, doesn't it ;-)

Thats the reason I'm in NM and not MC, I'm assuming there will be a bit of a transition of M3 E36's to the M Class in NM this year aswell

Interesting..... surprised by that really, especially as the budgets between those 2 years would have sky rocketed by all accounts yet lap times have remained constant. Maybe should get the old girl out again this year instead and try and find that speed it obviously has in it.

At Snetterton last year, we ran the X65 competing against the X85 and, even our fastest driver was a good 4 seconds or so slower in the race. (we were however equally matched in damp qualifying and split the pair of them). Its difficult to explain as the X85 is heavier and around the same power. Its sheer handling that make the difference, the cornering speed is way quicker than the X65. Unfortunately, the x85's didn't come out to play for the rest of the season, would have been interesting to have compared at Mallory Park.
so, to answer your question, X85.
I remember snetterton well, the one clio driver thought it was rallycross as he spent most of qualifying on the grass !!!!!,
Also i was told by the top clio guy in the country the x65 was a quicker car as it was lighter .......

I have see the advert. Seeing as we are praising the x65 it should sell well!!!
